Dancing With The Stars Hometown Glory: Can Tamar Braxton And Kim Zolciak Learn Two Dances In One Week?

Dancing with the Stars Val and Tamar

For part two of Hometown Glory week on Dancing with the Stars, the focus is on the pros. Val Chmerkovskiy and Tony Dovolani share their stories… but it’s still up to Tamar Braxton and Kim Zolciak to dance well and move forward in the competition.

Val considers his hometown New York City. “My parents dropped everything in Ukraine, their job, their friends, and came to New York City with nothing just so that their kids could become something,” shares Val. “Everything I have now is because of them.”

Once again, Val and Tamar butt heads in the rehearsal. When Val explains his vision for the dance, Tamar takes issue with him chasing her around shirtless. Wait, what? A shirtless Val is everything. #FansSelf #Shallow #DontCare I’m not here for Tamar making Val keep his shirt on.

I kid. I understand Tamar‘s point of view – and I definitely think she is playing up the attitude for which she is known. We get Tamar, but will that attitude translate well for the general Dancing with the Stars audience? I hope so!

Val and Tamar take on the Charleston. I have NO idea if it went well. Because, shirtless Val. Kidding! It’s fun and high energy. Tamar nails it!

Comments

Carrie Ann Inaba says, “That was the funkiest Charleston I have ever seen on this show.” Addressing Tamar, she adds, “You killed it. You are such a dynamic performer.”

Julianne Hough compliments Tamar‘s ability to go from sultry and sexy to fun and poppy.

Bruno Tonioli enthuses, “That was so uplifting and so energizing. I love all the details – there were elements of Lindy Hop, there was a little bit of Jitterbug, there was a Charleston reinvented…” And we lose him. Bruno’s out of his seat, shaking his hips and mumbling who knows what.

Kim Zolciak Blames Her Bad First Dance On Her 30-Pound Dress

Tony‘s hometown is Pristina, Kosovo. “Growing up in a war-torn country, dance was my escape,” he shares.

“I really want to do well for Tony,” shares Kim. “He’s such an incredible teacher and an incredible person. I do fear getting bad scores or not doing well… more so for Tony.”

Tony and Kim dance the Foxtrot. It’s okay – somewhere in between her Salsa and her Quickstep – but let’s be real here, Kim will be lucky to see the Top 10. To the wardrobe department, I beg you, no more halter tops or backless gowns for Kim. Her girls need more support.

Comments

Carrie Ann thinks Kim is a better dancer than Kim believes she is.

“You move really beautifully,” adds Carrie Ann. “I love the way you finish lines – there’s a sensuality, there’s a flow. This dance wasn’t as great as yesterday’s because [the Quickstep] was faster and you had to put energy into the dance. Sometimes you drop the energy back out of the dance. I want to see more.”

Um, Carrie Ann: Kim is a reality star. Sucking the energy out of everything they do is what they do best. 😉

Julianne gives Kim tips on how to improve her lines and use her dance space more efficiently.

Bruno compares Kim to a reupholstered couch – refitted, improved, and more comfortable. “Because you have the potential, don’t start to play it safe,” warns Bruno. “You still have to work on your ease of movement.”

Tony interrupts to remind Bruno that Kim had two dances to learn. In week 2.

The score doesn’t go over well. There’s a lot of booing and passive aggressive laughing in the ballroom.

Random Thoughts

Tony seems to be over Dancing with the Stars. I wouldn’t blame him if he is (because, Kate Gosselin, Wendy Williams, NeNe Leakes, Betsey Johnson, Suzanne Somers, and Kim Zolciak), but he needs to move on if that’s the case.

Looking at Kim alone, I think the sixes are fair. Overall, however, I believe Kim deserves a higher score than Paula. Speaking of, if I never see Paula wrap her legs around Louis again, it will be too soon. I really need her to be the next one to turn in her dancing shoes and go home. I 100% agree with Tamar and Val taking the top spot on the Leaderboard. Also, because it can’t be said enough, can someone PLEASE get Kim a bra?
