Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Is Going Global: Set To Air In Latin America, Australia, And Europe!

As if they weren't enough for 'Merica to handle, Alana Thompson and her family are all set to internationally dominate all things deer statutes, four-wheelers, and forklift foot.  June Shannon, Sugar Bear, and Uncle Poodle are going to have people all over the world talking about the small town of McIntyre, Georgia…heck, the South in general.  Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is going global!  Frightening, huh?

I am a huge fan of the show–and a proud Southerner–but gracious, this is a lot to digest (and not just because I had 'sketti for dinner.  Kidding–gag!).  On one hand, I'm happy for the family and their successes.  However, I hope that people in other parts of the world don't assume we're all eating pigs feet and going dumpster diving…not that there's anything wrong with those things!

The Daily Mail reveals that the HBB crew is now primed to air in several countries around the world.  Having already made a splash in Eastern Europe, the network plans to broaden the shows viewing audience to people in Italy, Latin America, the Netherlands, and Australia.  Honey Boo Boo down un-dah, mates!

The TLC gold mine just started airing in Poland, and it's already the number three show in regard to the country's viewership.  The executive Vice President at Discovery Networks International explains the success, saying, "In Poland, where it just started airing, it’s already No. 3 in terms of viewers."

He adds, "This is a slice of Americana — not typical America, but of a particular family in the South, and the international audience knows that there are many facets to American lives."  Many facets, indeed.  Many, many, many!  🙂

While the show is likely poised to be an international hit, some of Alana's catchphrases like "you'd better redneck-ognize" and "a dolla' makes me holla'" could get lost in translation.  According to the network, its working to remedy these issues with subtitles, dubbing voiceovers, and even "developing a more in-depth glossary of terms."  That's serious business!
