I'll be honest, I think the entire cast of Real Housewives of New York needs to be revamped…and STAT. I was actually excited that Aviva Drescher and all of her neuroses wouldn't be returning, but of course Bravo had to pull a fast one on all of us! It looks like Pinot Singer will have someone to spar with after all!
While I'm not at all shocked that Bravo would pull a last minute rabbit out of its hat, I do have to commend Aviva for what she has been doing recently regarding the tragedy in Boston. I may not like to watch her on my mindless reality circuit (seriously, it's like nails on a chalkboard), I do believe that she always has the best (although often misguided) of intentions.

The New York Daily News reports that the RHONY has signed on in the eleventh hour for the upcoming season (which starts filming May 6). In the meantime, she's focusing her efforts on meeting with the victims of the Boston marathon bombing.
A source close to Aviva shares, “This isn’t about getting press or attention for herself, this is about helping others. Four different hospitals have asked her to visit and she has said, ‘Name the date. I will do whatever I can to help.’"
The friend explains that Aviva knows what it's like to suffer the loss of a limb, although the circumstances are very different. The insider asserts that Aviva just wants to support those who find themselves facing the same reality, saying, “[She] will not be bringing the Bravo cameras to follow her on the visits. This is about helping others, not her, and certainly not about Bravo ratings." Props for that!
Another source close to the show adds, “Bravo deliberately staggered her contract until the last minute. Last season, Aviva and Ramona [Singer] were the stars, and Bravo was scared if they invited them back at the same time they could team up and ask for a lot more money.” Wait, I thought Aviva's creepy dad was last season's breakout star. Am I missing something?
According to Bravo gossip, Ramona signed on to make $450,000 for the sixth season, and Aviva is getting a paltry $100,000 for her return. The insider reveals, “The difference in what they earn makes them fight even more,” says our source. #housewivesproblems
