This season of Below Deck is overflowing with drama. That’s definitely a good thing, at least for the viewers. However, it has to be tough on the crew members to be away from their friends and family for these extended periods of time.
Recently, Below Deck cast member Josiah Carter shared a sweet photo with his mother Kairen Carter on social media.
Along with the Instagram photo, Josiah wrote a very loving caption. He shared, “So lovely to spend a few days with my beautiful mum. You can still be beautiful while going through chemo @kairencarter #breastcancerawareness @breast_cancer_care @breastcancernow.”
Both Kairen and Josiah got a lot a lot of love and support in response to his post, which is a nice of example of some positivity that can result from social media for a change. It seems like this was the first time Josiah spoke about his mother’s cancer battle on social media.
On her own page, Kairen has shared some updates throughout her cancer journey. On October 2, she told her Instagram followers, “On the 5th of July I was diagnosed with breast cancer after 3 biopsies, 10 mammograms, ultra sounds and an MRI.”

At the end of October, Kairen shared before and after photos from her pre-chemo haircut. On November 16, she celebrated her first round of chemotherapy with a workout session. Major props to her for getting right back into her routine.
