Basketball Wives Alum Gloria Govan Accused of Fraud in Cannabis Business Lawsuit

Trouble keeps on finding the Basketball Wives — this time, it’s Gloria Govan. Things aren’t looking good for the reality TV star, and it’s all to do with her business.

According to Radar Online, the former VH1 star just got slapped with a nasty lawsuit.

A company called Silver Leaf Events sued Gloria and her cannabis company, RLNTLSS Brands. They claimed that the former reality star ripped them off big time. She’s accused of fraud, breach of contract, intentional misrepresentation, and conspiracy to engage in unfair business practices. Let’s get into the details.

Gloria got served

Gloria hired Silver Leaf Events to produce some video projects for the company. According to the suit, they put together a proposal for videography and postproduction services. Gloria approved the proposal, so Silver Leaf sent her a formal contract and requested $15,000 for their services. That’s when things got murky.

In the lawsuit, Silver Leaf said they spent time working on the project and collaborating with Gloria, but she never signed the contract or sent them any money. The lawsuit explained, “[Silver Leaf] filmed the content for the project, as directed by GLORIA GOVAN, on April 19, 2023. That morning, prior to filming, [Silver Leaf] sent GLORIA GOVAN a text message reminding her to sign the contract and to please send payment immediately.”

Allegedly, Gloria gave them the runaround. First, she said she was going to pay half of the money through Zelle. That never happened. Then, she tried to get them to accept payment in the form of $1,000 installments. That didn’t happen either.

With no money on the table, Silver Leaf decided to stop preproduction on the project. But, they still want Gloria to fork up some cash because they believe she never actually intended to pay for the services.

The lawsuit said, “[Silver Leaf] reasonably believes that Defendants manipulated [Silver Leaf’s owner] and forced them to take on costs related to their business with no intention of paying for the work performed or the production costs.”

They’re asking for $30,000 in damages. But, if she couldn’t pay the original invoice for $15,000, it’s not clear where the additional funds will come from. She might want to start a GoFundMe. In the meantime, we’ll be following this story to see what happens next.
