Bachelorette Star Bryan Abasolo Files for Divorce From Rachel Lindsay

Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo fell in love in front of our eyes during Season 13 of The Bachelorette. Rachel made history and was the first Black person to headline the series. Bryan proposed to her during the romantic finale. And in August 2019, the couple said “I do” in Mexico.

I was so invested in this couple. Sigh. Now Bryan has filed for divorce from Rachel. Page Six has the details.

Rachel hinted that the couple was having trouble

Bryan submitted the court documents on Tuesday, January 2, 2023. The date of their marital separation is recorded as December 31, 2023. The chiropractor listed the old reliable “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their separation. Bryan is requesting spousal support, and the duo doesn’t have any children.

Recently, Rachel was a guest on the Viall Files podcast and discussed her marriage. She noted that her husband normally put in 12-hour days “by himself.” In contrast, Rachel has “a lot more free time.”

Rachel explained, “So, we’re just in two totally different places. You gotta protect the marriage and we just don’t work well together. Not every couple can do that,” she added. Yikes.

Rachel had hopes of growing their family

In August, Rachel spoke to fellow former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe for her podcast, Off the Vine. “When we came off the show, you feel the pressure of having to show people how we’re doing. They want that because they fell in love with us as a couple and want to see how we’re doing and check-in,” Rachel explained. “I remember being in public at a grocery store and it felt like people were watching us. They were watching our conversation and body language,” she added. That must add another layer of stress to any relationship.

Bryan and Rachel relocated to Los Angeles, and she admitted that their marriage was “up and down.” And their presence as a couple on social media was limited as time went on. “There were months that went by where Bryan and I didn’t post and everyone assumed that we were breaking up,” Rachel explained. “They were counting how long it had been since we posted each other and how long it had been since we liked each other’s posts.”

Rachel, hoping to grow their family, left her job as a correspondent for Extra. “I hope for kids. I hope that we work less. Bryan has his own practice here in LA. He’s by himself, so he’s working super long days,” Rachel told Kaitlyn. “Now I’m in a very lost phase, a bit of a transition phase. I hope that we have kids and we are working now for something bigger.” Rachel added, “So I hope that we have built the bigger and can spend more time growing a family.”

Season 28 of The Bachelor will premiere on Monday, January 22, 2024, on ABC.
