Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 will soon be drawing to a close. For most viewers, the season has been a mixed bag. The almost universal disapproval of Captain Sandy Yawn didn’t help things.
On top of that, the drama has felt so easily connected that even Bravo fans can’t handle it at times. That said, there were still some bright spots (depending on who you ask). At least the hard-working pair of Tumi Mhlongo and Luka Brunton attempted to keep things together.
Now, with the season finale fast approaching, fans can only wonder if Tumi and Luka’s work will be enough to put a nice little bow on the end of this season. Viewers likely aren’t holding their breath.
Max challenged Luka in “f**king everything”
On January 16, Bravo gave BDM fans a real treat as they released a seven-minute teaser ahead of the finale. The preview saw the crew stuck at port and, as a result, that meant the pressure was on for Tumi. As Captain Sandy explained, Tumi had to “Organize a trip to Portofino, organize the deck team to create the foam party, [and] the theme dinner.”
Most importantly, Tumi had to make sure the guests felt “taken care of,” especially while stuck on the deck. Tumi described both the guests and the situation as “difficult,” and definitely felt the responsibility in keeping them happy. Tumi felt it was an opportunity to prove her ability to herself as a chief stew.
Meanwhile, Luka expressed how this season had likely been the most difficult for him. The brunt of the work came from “managing different personalities,” specifically pointing to Max Salvador and his antics. When asked by a producer how Max had challenged him this season, Luka responded, “Oh, with f**king everything.”
