Todd and Julie Chrisley’s $1 Million Settlement Could Be Seized by Feds

Welp, you win some and you lose some. Such as life for Todd Chrisley, but he appears to be on a continuous losing streak. That’s probably because the Chrisley Knows Best alum is in jail for multiple financial crimes.

While Todd and Julie Chrisley are fighting their convictions, they did receive a small victory. After winning a $1 million settlement from the state of Georgia the Feds are all, “um, can we take a look at that paperwork?” Now the government has entered the chat and they want that money. Radar has the details.

A win is a win, or is it?

At the beginning of 2024, Todd and Julie received some good news. A settlement for $1 million was awarded to them amid being in jail for fraud and hiding their wealth.

Now after becoming aware of the money, the federal government wants to seize the funds and put it towards the $17 million Todd and Julie owe in restitution. Court docs show the payout just popped up on government radar.

The couple’s legal team advised they have not been on the receiving end of the money. In a statement, the attorneys said, “This money did not go directly to either Todd or Julie, however. And neither of them have received any funds from the settlement.” Obviously, because they are both locked up.

It continued, “But numerous debts they previously owed, including some reflected in the pre-sentencing financial disclosures, were paid in whole or in part. Given that these payments resolve some of their debt, and therefore change their ‘economic circumstances’ in ‘material’ ways, the Defendants believed it prudent to notify the Court and the United States Attorney in accordance with the Judgment.”

Todd and Julie received the settlement after a victorious lawsuit against the former director of the Department of Revenue’s special investigations unit, Joshua Waites. This man may or may not have “unfairly targeted” the former reality stars after allegedly getting nice and comfy with their estranged daughter, Lindsie Chrisley.

At this time the feds believe the law firm representing the Chrisleys is holding the $1 million. The judge has yet to make a decision on the government’s request.
