The Traitors EP Denies Protecting Peter With Canceled Banishment

The Bachelor’s own Peter Weber has been coming in hot during Season 2 of The Traitors

After rubbing most of the castle the wrong way during his attempts at snuffing out the remaining Traitors, Survivor alum Sandra Diaz-Twine developed a plan that would’ve sent him packing during Episode 7. However, a sudden torch-lighting ceremony offering safety to a lucky seven players threw everybody for a loop.

Following the episode, many watchers voiced their frustrations with the unexpected twist. Was it done to save Peter? Executive producer Sam Rees-Jones told Entertainment Tonight that wasn’t the case.

Did production step in to save Peter during Episode 7 of The Traitors?

Let’s face it — Pete is one of the Faithfuls getting down and dirty to win his portion of the $250,000 grand prize. So, did production step in during Episode 7 to prolong the pilot’s game?

“I spoke to a couple of people, and the Episode 7 twist [of the canceled banishment] was absolutely not done to protect anyone,” Sam said. “That was a twist that had been planned for that episode before we even started filming.”

In fact, Sam revealed producers would “never interfere with the gameplay” because there’d be no need, adding “it wouldn’t be satisfying.”

Fast forward a week, and Peter’s grand plan to banish Parvati Shallow worked — sending her packing and leaving Phaedra Parks to battle it out alone. Well, that is unless returning player Kate Chastain accepts her invitation to be a Traitor.

In an earlier interview, Kate teased what else fans should be excited about during the latter half of the season. “Coming up, people will be surprised that people you’re cheering for, you won’t be. Maybe people you weren’t cheering for, you will be,” she said. “I was certainly shocked at the way things developed.”
