Summer House Newbie Jesse Solomon’s Advice for Young Men After Discovering Testicular Cancer at 24

In Season 8 of Summer House, newbie Jesse Solomon came on the scene with a big smile and an even bigger desire to flirt with every girl in the house. He’s fully committed to the show’s mantra of “summer should be fun.” Slowly, we’re learning more about him, and he recently opened up about his experience with testicular cancer at 24.

The Summer House star interviewed with Men’s Health and shared his journey with cancer back in 2017. He’s healthy today, but he talked about how cancer changed him both physically and mentally. Plus, he issued some serious words of advice for everyone out there with a set of balls.

Prevention is key

In Jesse’s interview with the outlet, he talked about how he’s appreciative of the small things in life after beating cancer. He said that having FOMO is a thing of the past, and instead, he’s just happy to have his life.

Jesse said, “I used to have FOMO when my friends would go out and stuff and I was like, ‘Ah, should I go out or not?’ Now I’m like, ‘I literally don’t give a sh*t. I’m alive and I’m healthy.’”

When it comes to his message for other men, he urged that they focus on cancer prevention. His advice is pretty simple. You just need to touch yourself and report any unusual findings to your doctor.

“The key to beating cancer is prevention,” Jesse explained. “You have to touch your nuts and if you feel something, you got to go to the doctor and get it checked out.”

Life after cancer

In addition to screening yourself, Jesse reiterated how it’s crucial to have regular checkups with your doctor. Annual physicals with bloodwork are important for your overall health. He also said he incorporates cancer prevention into his lifestyle by staying active and focusing on what he puts inside of his body.

Jesse shared, “I try to do things for cancer prevention, like intermittent fasting, sauna, and cold plunge. I don’t think the cold plunge helps with cancer, but being in the sauna is supposed to be good for you. I work out five, six days a week.”

Ultimately, Jesse’s interview was full of gems about health and wellness. The whole thing puts him in a different light. He shared his overall perspective on life, and it’s probably something everyone can get behind.

He said, “I appreciate life and my family and friends, and I hope that everybody else can find that gratitude and appreciation without having to go through something like this. I try to live every day like that.”
