Carl Radke is having a rough Summer House Season 8. The road to the demise of his engagement to Lindsay Hubbard is on full display. We thought last year was bad for Lindsay and Carl, but they’ve managed to take it to a whole new level. Thank the Bravo gods that we have West Wilson for comedic relief.
Summer House fans know that Carl is going to end the season by calling off his engagement to HubbHouse. It’s going to be dramatic, but the writing was on the wall during the summer. The entire vibe around Lindsay and Carl’s wedding was tense and awkward. In a preview clip for the latest episode, their wedding planning managed to take things to a new level of uncomfortable.
Carl’s delicate balancing act
In a preview from Bravo’s The Daily Dish for the April 4 episode, Carl asked Kyle Cooke to be a part of his wedding. It makes sense, considering that Carlito was the one who officiated Kyle’s marriage with Amanda Batula. The easiest guess is that Kyle would’ve been a groomsman if the wedding had happened. But Carl had other ideas. “I really wanted you to be a part of our wedding. I would love for you to be a flower boy if you’re OK with this,” Carl asked his friend in the teaser clip. A flower boy?
Kyle’s confusion by Carl’s question was only amplified when he revealed that Kyle would join Andrea Denver and Luke Gulbranson as flower boys. Kyle asked for clarification that he was not selected to be a groomsman at the wedding. “Your role is going to be the flower boy,” Carl repeated. He did reveal that he is having groomsmen, it’s just that his Summer House bros didn’t make the cut.
Carl gave some insight on his decision to have a boy band’s worth of flower boys in a confessional. “I mean, this is really how I really deep down feel. Lindsay didn’t want Kyle to be a groomsman,” Carl revealed. “Did that come out of Lindsay’s mouth, ‘I don’t want Kyle to be a groomsman’? No. But because of what Kyle had done and said previously.” The truth comes out.
Carlito admitted that the previous year was rough on his friendship with Kyle, but he wants him at the wedding. “But, I also have to play ball with my wife — or, future wife,” he added. I guess this is one messy part of the wedding that Carl will never have to deal with since calling it off. There’s always a bright side.
