Bouncing from reality TV show to reality TV show might not be good for your mental health, and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has learned that the hard way. After a difficult run on Celebrity Big Brother UK, Ekin-Su has shared a statement on Instagram describing the “lightbulb” moment she experienced after her eviction.
Of course, we first met Ekin-Su on Love Island in 2022. She slayed it, and everyone fell in love with her. Since then, she’s been on several reality shows. She appeared on Dancing on Ice, The Traitors, and CBB all in the last two years. Now, it sounds like she’s ready for a pause.
Ekin-Su is ready for a new era
On Celebrity Big Brother, viewers were not impressed with Ekin-Su’s performance, and she caught a lot of flack for playing up to the cameras. The bubbly Ekin-Su we all fell in love with on Love Island was nowhere to be found. She got evicted, the audience booed her, and she ultimately opted to skip the finale. On Instagram, she explained that she had to take some time away to focus on herself.
“Thank you once more for all your kindness,” Ekin-Su started in her heartfelt post.
She continued, “Took some time off to reflect, recharge, and restore which I’m still very much doing but I’ll need to be back online for work purposes especially.”
Ekin-Su went on to explain that she hadn’t felt like herself in a “long time.” She described feeling “lost” after her failed Love Island relationship and a handful of reality TV appearances. Getting poisoned on The Traitors and booed on CBB did a number on her.
She continued, “Haven’t felt myself for a long time, and I’ve realized I had kind of lost myself and for a while didn’t know who I was beyond being defined by ex-relationships or TV shows, and that needs to change!”
Ekin-Su finished her message by saying that CBB was the “final lightbulb moment” to make her realize that she needed some change in her life. She told her followers to get ready for her new era. A new and improved Ekin-Su is coming soon.
