Dance Moms’ Abby Lee Miller Regrets Being ‘Harsh’ on Kids, but Not for the Reason You’d Expect

Lifetime’s reality series, Dance Moms, was one for the reality TV history books. During its run on air, fans were drawn to the show not only because of the talent of dancers like Maddie Ziegler and Chloe Lukasiak but also due to Abby Lee Miller’s outrageous personality.

In a new special featuring several of the original cast members and notable replacements, they discussed their time on the show, how it impacted them, and Abby’s unrealistic demands. Today, Abby is responding and showing more compassion, too. But she isn’t apologizing for what you might think.

Abby does regret her harsh treatment towards the girls … but for this reason only

During a special ABC interview for an upcoming documentary, Abby looked back on her time as THE reality TV villain and discussed her intense personality. When host Juju Chang asked her if she would take back some of her harsh comments and behavior if she could, Abby said she would.

“Absolutely. Yes, I would.”

“No matter how harsh I was on the kid, they weren’t gonna get it,” the convicted felon answered. “They just didn’t have the talent.”

Abby’s comments are nothing more than her being salty that the girls she helped put on the map left her ass in the dust.

“You’re saying you regret it not because you hurt the kids’ feelings, but because it was pointless,” Juju clarified.

Abby replied, saying her intention was never to “hurt anyone’s feelings.” However, she had such high expectations of them. She said that she wanted to “get them to be better and to be the best that they can be.”

Cast members have discussed previously how the show affected them overall. Chloe said being away from Abby has helped her realize she should seek professional help to heal. “It made me realize I should probably go to therapy,” she joked. “[There’s a lot of] things I need to heal from, but it was good to look back and just appreciate. I didn’t expect it at all when they brought up the idea of a reunion. I was just like, ‘Yeah, that sounds good.’”
