Why Summer House’s Lindsay Hubbard Will Never Be a ‘Stepford Wife’

I knew last week’s episode of Summer House was going to be a doozy when I heard Lindsay Hubbard shade Carl Radke. Her comment, “I think he’s ready to get married; I just don’t know if he’s really prepared to be a full-grown adult,” didn’t bode well for their engagement. We have known since Season 1 that “Amish Floridian” is a firecracker. She has given every man she has ever dated on the show a run for his money. Lindsay has yelled about sandwiches. She asked for a PowerPoint presentation as a form of homework. Linds even yelled at Everett Weston about not telling her who he was texting.

It’s fair to say Lindsay has a long list of what she wants out of a guy. And no one has cut it yet. But in my humble opinion, Lindsay can afford to be picky. She has waited 37 years already, so why should she start letting men slide now?

Low blow, Linds

In the latest episode of Summer House, Lindsay majorly shaded Carl, and I can’t say I blame her. I don’t actually know who is at fault, but the two couldn’t communicate if their lives depended on it.

After yet another tedious argument, Lindsay lost her cool. In all honesty, it does feel like Carl is extra sensitive as he tells Lindsay, “I feel pretty excited about something. I understand where you’re coming from, but I’m just hoping for a little more, ‘Yeah, that’s awesome, I’m here to help you in any way I can.’ And let’s have a good party and move on.” And while Carl doesn’t feel like he is asking for a lot, Lindsay isn’t willing to compromise her inner boss b*tch.

However, I was proud of my girl for reiterating Carl’s sentiment with no sincerity. Naturally, Carl didn’t appreciate the dramatics. But Lindsay had a point when she stated, “What on earth am I supposed to be like ‘yay’ about? Nothing has been done.”

Lindsay was activated

I feel like anyone living in the Summer House should have learned long ago not to try and have serious conversations during an apocalypse party. But Lindsay tried her best to be a good fiancée and revisited the earlier discussion. Lindsay isn’t a woman to mince words, as she noted, “I want to help you figure out what’s best for you, but you’re telling me I’m interrogating you.” Carl’s choice of words wasn’t great as he urged the PR guru to be more “soft and sensitive.” However, the adjectives severely offended her as she questioned why he “continuously” asked her to be that way.

Lindsay stood her ground as she realized that Carl wanted her to change everything about her personality. Just as she was about to exit the conversation, she shared, “The word that I think you’re looking for is that you need a Stepford wife. And I am never going to be that person. You are asking me to be somebody that I’m not.”

Lindsay is a wild horse, not a “Stepford wife”

The OG of Summer House will not be changing how she operates in her day to day life just because Carl asked her to. That, in my opinion, is what makes Lindsay so attractive as a reality TV star. The Hubb House owner is always going to be the advice giver and business savant. She isn’t about to lie down and let anyone, including her former fiancé, walk all over her.

Lindsay won’t ever be the typical Stepford wife. The term is actually meant as a derogatory term for a submissive and docile wife who seems to conform blindly to an old-fashioned subservient role in her relationship with her husband. This is not nor ever will be Lindsay. She wants the best for those around her, but not at the expense of her voice.

As she noted to Ciara Miller if that’s what Carl really wanted, he “better make a lot of f*cking money to support this ass. If you want me to be a mute in a relationship, that is not me.”

TELL US – DO YOU THINK CARL REALLY WANTED LINDSAY TO BE A STEPFORD WIFE? OR DID SHE MISUNDERSTAND HIS INTENTIONS?
