Johnny Arvanitis and Wihan du Toit were both fired by Captain Jason Chambers on Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11: “The Shots You Don’t Take.”
Johnny’s firing was an emotional one, but unavoidable after he showed signs of physical aggression on board the superyacht. Wihan’s firing was a little more understandable. He had been through conflict with multiple members of the crew, and his treatment of deckhand Harry van Vliet was uncomfortable to watch as a viewer. It’s hard to say just how uncomfortable the atmosphere on board would have been.
With the two firings on Below Deck Down Under, came two new faces to join the crew. There’s a new Australian bosun in charge, and an extremely green deckhand. But the latter is already running into trouble, after drinking a double shot of tequila while on charter; albeit at the request of a guest.
Exactly whether or not he’s going to get into trouble with Captain Jason remains to be seen. Picking up the initiative to go and confess might just save his skin. Below Deck Down Under Season 3 doesn’t need yet another person being fired; at least not this early on. Fingers crossed for a better outcome on this one.
