Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt tragically lost their home to the Palisades Wildfires in January of this year. At the time, The Hills alums shared their loss and with the public. They also appealed to their fans to raise money to potentially rebuild their home.
There was an active GoFundMe. And at the request of Spencer, fans streamed Heidi’s 2010 album “Superficial” to the point that the couple were overwhelmed by the emotional and financial support. Unfortunately, despite all their efforts, Spencer and Heidi are not able to rebuild their home.
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt can’t afford to rebuild home lost to LA wildfires
Heidi shared the family’s grief during a recent episode of the Julia Cunningham Show. Sadly, they don’t have the finances to rebuild. Host Julia Cunningham opened the discussion by asking about the “hard decisions” the parents had to make. She also praised Heidi and Spencer for “shining light” on the issue.
“Yeah, and I think that’s the most challenging part that I’ve been facing too. It’s like, “Well, where do you go?” This is the place that we …,” she answered, cutting off when she felt “emotional.”
Heidi continued, “It’s such a long road and that’s what I think a lot of people don’t realize as well. It’s like you see a few minutes in the news and then it’s over. But it’s not old news to us. It’s still so fresh and it’s your life. And it’s what you spent your entire life building.”
The Hills alum admitted that she counts her “blessings” while also finding the situation “challenging.” She added, “Thank god we are safe and we are healthy and we have each other. And I always say, you know, Spencer is my home and my family is my home and it is things that we can replace, you know, some of it. Some of it obviously, you can’t and a home is not just a place of material things, it’s a place you love, it’s a place you live, it’s a place you create memories.”
Heidi and Spencer are still mourning the loss of their “safe haven.” The songstress explained that they still “had a mortgage” but were ready to “put a down payment on” the “smaller house.” She added, “We financially can’t rebuild our house and we can’t buy a new house.”
Host Julia Cunningham confirmed, “You can’t buy a new house either.”
“Yeah, and so people don’t realize, it’s like, “Oh yeah, it’s a nice community and a house,” but it wasn’t …,” Heidi said before Julia cut her off. She said, “There was so much more.”
“Yeah. There’s just so much more to that and it is really hard and a lot of challenges that you continue to face,” Heidi concluded.
