RHOSLC star Britani Bateman is accused of taking money from a sick relative
The Daily Mail reported that Britani has been accused of stealing $100,000 from a sick relative. The 53-year-old was named in a recent lawsuit and accused of taking money from her 87-year-old ex-mother-in-law.
Sandra Underwood, the mother of John Scott Underwood, claims that she loaned Britani money in 2021 during a desperate time. But now the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star is supposedly refusing to pay a penny back to the pensioner.
The lawsuit claims that Sandra “does not have sufficient income” to cover her living costs and medical expenses. According to the outlet, “Britani wilfully, maliciously and through intentionally fraudulent conduct, also converted Plaintiff’s funds and now refuses to repay the funds.”
The civil complaint, which was filed on May 6, went on to state that Britani had used the money for “her own personal benefit after it was deposited into a trust fund.” According to the lawsuit, the 87-year-old added the $100,000 to a trust that was set up by Melvin Merrill Martin, Britani’s father. Britani was named a trustee and beneficiary.
The trust was originally set up after the singer sold her home. Sandra alleged that Britani “urged her to contribute the $100,000 to the corpus with the understanding that she could request it be withdrawn at any time and it would be returned to her without objection.”

It was also reported that Sandra added another $200,000 to the trust with the intention of building her own home on Britani’s Utah land. According to Sandra, Britani was sent a legal letter in March that demanded the money be returned.
However, Britani did not respond. That’s not a very Mormon attitude, B. The letter asked Britani to have “simple decency and morality.” And to pay back the $100,000 so Sandra would “be able to live out her life in a semi-comfortable way.” It seems the lawyers have taken note of Britani’s ostentatious lifestyle as of late. But the mother of two claims that her ex-husband, John, has drained all her accounts.
She has also accused him of cutting her off from their joint business ventures. Britani has also accused John of non-compliance following a Domestic Relations Injunction. It was alleged that John had “unauthorized expenditure of business funds on personal expenses. Failure to add Britani to accounts related to the businesses of the parties, unauthorized draining of the account of the parties’ business. And failure to operate the businesses consistent with the parties’ historical manner.”
The RHOSLC star also claimed John caused her “severe emotional distress. By demanding sex multiple times per day and other controlling behavior.” This included “dictating what clothing, makeup, perfume, and other beauty products Britani could and could not wear or use, both in and out of his presence.”

John has denied any wrongdoing. His statement to the outlet read, “This is just one of many vexatious cases for which Ms. Underwood has had the impetus, often making false and exaggerated claims. At least three prior cases in which she was behind have already been dismissed.”
Sandra isn’t backing down. She wants every penny back, “plus interest at the statutory prescribed rate,” starting at the time the transfer was made. She is also asking that Britani pay her attorney fees and other costs, including up to three times the amount of her losses.
Britani has been spotted filming for Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. It seemed almost a given that Britani would get her spot back after she was caught audio recording the women fighting on the sprinter van. She was recently snapped at the Saratoga Hot Springs in Utah with some of the other women. Needless to say, if she is still involved in the lawsuit, I’m sure Bravo cameras will be following the story.
