Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continued Whitney Leavitt’s crusade to rejoin MomTok. And Mikayla Matthews kept speaking out about why having Whitney around was a bad idea. These two may have been close at one time, but now they just don’t mix. And their clash during Season 2 demonstrated that Mikayla has no desire to repair her friendship with Whitney.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives drama continues between Mikayla Matthews and Whitney Leavitt
As you may recall, Whitney peaced out of the group chat and quit MomTok during Season 1. Now, she wants back in, but these Mormon mom influencers weren’t going to make it easy. In the end, Whitney was voted back into MomTok, with Mikayla as the loudest voice protesting the move.
Recently, Mikayla was a guest on The Squeeze podcast, where she addressed her complicated feelings about Whitney. “I think there’s a lot of confusion when it comes to Whitney because I genuinely just don’t get where her mindset’s at. I think there’s a lot in her that triggers me because it reminds me of my mom,” Mikayla explained. During Season 2, Mikayla revealed that she was sexually abused as a child, and brought viewers along on her journey to heal.
Plus, Mikayla didn’t like Whitney’s remarks when she was a guest on the same podcast. “I think there was one line specifically where you asked her, ‘Do you have anything you feel like you need to say to the other women?’ and she was like, ‘Nope. If they want to talk to me, they can,'” Mikayla stated. “It was like she didn’t know what she was taking accountability for and apologizing for.”
She continued, “I think that’s something that I’ve seen with her is that she comes back when it’s convenient for her. So, I think for me and, like, my own personal growth, I was like it’s OK for me to be like, ‘I’m not letting you take any of the power. I’m keeping the power over here, and you can do whatever you want and be on your way.'”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is now streaming on Hulu.
