Is The Bachelor in Danger of Being Cancelled After 2025? Here’s Our Thoughts…

The Bachelor is one of the most popular reality shows in recent history. The series recently wrapped up its 29th season, where Grant Ellis got engaged to Juliana Pasquarosa. However, over the last few years, the franchise has received more scrutiny than usual.

Following Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, the spin-off wasn’t renewed for this upcoming year. This has caused fans to worry about the future of The Bachelor, which has yet to be renewed by ABC. Is The Bachelor in danger of being canceled? Or is the franchise simply focusing on other shows for the time being?

Could The Bachelor be canceled after 2025’s season?

While Grant’s season ended with him finding love, many viewers were unhappy with the season as a whole. Some fans were angered after Grant seemingly blindsided Litia Garr during the finale. Litia explained that she was shocked when Grant broke up with her, as he had been assuring her that she was his number one choice.

On the other hand, some Bachelor Nation fans questioned Grant’s intentions as the lead. Several times throughout the season, Grant raised suspicions that he might have been doing the show to further his music career. While Grant’s season was successful for him, it wasn’t a fan favorite. This is a big contrast from the previous Bachelor, Joey Graziadei, who was adored by the entirety of Bachelor Nation.

As the oldest show of the franchise, it’s critical that The Bachelor continues producing seasons that are liked by fans. Unlike other Bachelor Nation shows, there are original Bachelor fans who solely watch The Bachelor and not any of the other spin-offs. If The Bachelor were to get canceled, it would cause a huge crack in the franchise and reality television as a whole.

Will Bachelor in Paradise 2025 save the franchise?

The next Bachelor show scheduled to air is Bachelor in Paradise Season 10. Season 10 will be the first BIP season to air in two years, as the show took a year off last summer. This was mainly to make room for The Golden Bachelorette, despite BIP Season 9 airing at the same time as The Golden Bachelor.

Over the last few seasons, BIP has seen mixed results. The last two seasons have been notably unsuccessful, with neither Season 8 nor Season 9 producing any successful couples. These two seasons also introduced a series of new twists, including a copycat of Casa Amor from Love Island. While some fans liked the changes, others felt that it was too unoriginal. Season 10, on the other hand, will feature a mix of Bachelor and Golden Bachelor franchise singles. This change will certainly alter the show, however, it isn’t clear whether it will be for good or bad.

The last successful season of BIP was Season 7. As of today, five couples from Season 7 are still together, making it a huge success. If Season 10 can follow in the footsteps of Season 7, it has the potential to get the franchise back on track. However, if Season 10 flops like Seasons 8 and 9, the future of all of the Bachelor shows could be in serious trouble. After poorly received seasons of The Bachelor and Bachelorette, it’s critical for BIP Season 10 to be a success.

The Golden Bachelor returns in 2025 with new lead Mel Owens

The Golden Bachelor Season 2 is expected to air sometime shortly after BIP Season 10 wraps up. Season 2 will feature a new lead Mel Owens, who hasn’t been featured on the franchise previously. The original season of The Golden Bachelor was a huge success, with some viewers arguing that it was better than the original Bachelor series. The Golden Bachelorette was also received well, with viewers appreciating the different perspectives.

While The Golden Bachelor has a lot of potential as a series, I have one main concern about the upcoming season. After many eligible Golden men were introduced on The Golden Bachelorette, ABC chose someone from outside the franchise. One of the key aspects of The Bachelor franchise is choosing someone from a previous season as the lead of the next. While Mel is surely a great guy, not choosing a returning man to lead could have negative consequences for the entire franchise.

The Bachelor is available to stream on Hulu.
