Even though the Real Housewives of New York has been put on pause, fans are still following major cast updates. Perhaps the most exciting news to come out of the series so far was the news of Ubah Hassan’s engagement. She recently revealed that she was engaged to her boyfriend, Oliver Dachsel. With wedding bells in the future, here’s what we know about the model’s happily ever after.
How did Oliver Dachsel and Ubah Hassan meet?
The Somali native first met Oliver through a mutual friend while attending a birthday party in 2018. While they briefly interacted, sparks did not fly on the first meeting. Sadly, they were not formally introduced until years later when they bumped into one another at a charity board meeting. They have now been dating for three years and look to spend forever together. Ubah and Oliver became Instagram official in September 2023. And one month later, the pair made their red carpet premiere when they attended the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala. In Season 15 of the Real Housewives of New York, Ubah stunned her friends when she admitted she was trying to get pregnant by the end of the year. Ubah is not currently pregnant, but the couple did add to their family by adopting a Goldendoodle named Miles.
Shortly after the New Year, Ubah shared that she did have a dream engagement ring in mind. She told Parade, “I do love a yellow diamond, just because they’re rare. And I didn’t know they were the most expensive.” She added, “I like to make sure like I match, you know, because yellow can’t match a lot. I don’t even care about the diamonds, I have diamonds, like, I don’t need diamonds. I have him.”
How did Oliver Dachsel propose to Ubah Hassan?
The 44-year-old German businessman fell to bended knee while the two were enjoying a day out in the desert during a recent vacation. Almost immediately, Ubah took to her Instagram to show off her ring. Along with a slide show, she wrote, “To love and be loved by someone so kind, deeply good, and quietly breathtaking.” In the photos, Ubah wore a white flowy blouse with matching white pants and sandals. Happiness was written all over her face as she stared down at Oliver, who was proposing before her. While crying, she passionately embraced Oliver with a big hug.
After coming to terms with being a bride, Ubah FaceTimes her Real Housewives of New York friend, Jessel Taank. The mother of two told her friend, “And here I was thinking it was just a regular day until Ubah rocked my world with the best news!” Ubah’s cousin, Chanel Ayan, made sure to comment on the slideshow. She wrote, “We can now celebrate and I can tell the world my cousin is engaged! So happy and love you both so much.”
Will Ubah Hassan film her wedding?
As Real Housewives of New York fans know, the beloved series has been put on pause. This means that Ubah will most likely not share her big day with Bravo viewers. However, there is a chance since other fan favorites have been given spin-offs for their wedding. Both Teresa Giudice and Karen Huger were able to film their nuptials. But if I were a betting woman, I would guess that Ubah and Oliver would want a more private day. Let’s not forget he also didn’t agree to be filmed for the series due to his lifestyle.
Either way, fans will most definitely get to see photos of their big day. As for a date, Ubah has yet to mention one. The two are most likely still in the honeymoon phase and have yet to start planning. Fans do know Ubah is very close with her family and could want a destination wedding. Oliver hails from Germany and might want a more traditional ceremony. For now, the pair has choices, and whatever they plan, one thing is for sure: Ubah is going to make a beautiful bride.
