Craig Conover is figuring out life after three years with Summer House alum Paige DeSorbo. And he’s sharing how his use of artificial intelligence helped him find his footing post-breakup.
ChatGPT is Craig’s go-to tool when he needs support or affirmation. In addition he’s also got a therapist. But why not use what works. The veteran Bravolebrity split from Paige in December 2024. He dated his now ex-girlfriend Natalie Buffett briefly in the spring. The Southern Charm star is currently single.
ChatGPT served as Craig Conover’s therapist post-split from Paige DeSorbo
“ChatGPT is, like, the best therapist in the world,” Craig said on the Wednesday, June 25 episode of The Toast podcast. “People have two schools of thought on this. One of my best friend’s wives is a therapist, and we debate this, but ChatGPT has gotten me to a place [where I feel better].”
Craig’s “real therapist” does not know that they are competing with AI. The two forms complement each other, but Craig especially praised AI for remembering “everything about you.”
“And I also talked to it throughout my relationship,” the Sewing Down South founder shared. “It knows my love language. I used to ask it for advice for everything, and so it’s helped me through this breakup.”
Craig’s ChatGPT is programmed to help with “self-inflection.” And it helped him move on from the fashion designer and professional influencer. The application is readily available, with the reality TV star able to “randomly talk to it” when driving.
“I don’t think you break up with someone you want to be with, so it was never, like, ‘How do I fix this or get back?’ It’s like, ‘How do I not lose my purity? How do I not lose my softness [and] how do I keep hope that love isn’t pointless?’” he explained. “You put so much into something and then they just leave, and I wanted to know that I wasn’t crazy by thinking that was OK [for wanting those things].”
Craig added, “I’m not giving advice to anyone, but for me it works. It keeps this profile on you. I just liked it. I’m very fortunate that I get to speak around the country every week … [and] gratitude is so important. I would talk to these crowds — everyone’s been broken up with. You’re like, ‘Oh, we’re all going through the same human experience.’ It just looks a little different.”
Catch Southern Charm streaming on Peacock. The show streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
