Welcome back to the high seas! This week on Below Deck Season 12 Episode 5, relationships are evolving, creating positive and negative narratives in turn. Last week, interpersonal relationships came to a head after communication issues arose within both departments. To help blow off steam, these yachties are turning to each other. In doing so, one land-based relationship might now fail. Here is everything that happened in Below Deck Season 12 Episode 5, “Rainbeau Kisses, Friendship Wishes.”

What happened in Below Deck Season 12 Episode 5?

A new group of charter guests has come onboard the yacht. In the interior, Fraser is doing his best to satisfy their whims while also dealing with his conflicting feelings for his boyfriend back home. Meanwhile, the deck team is also struggling, but unlike the interior team, their leader is the one to blame. And this leader is now running out of chances.

Waking up from their boozy night in the hot tub, Kyle remains infatuated with Solène. Fraser enjoyed kissing Damo as well. But as Damo is not gay, Fraser did not cheat on his boyfriend at home, Fraser notes.

The yachties depart for brunch. At the table, Fraser introduces a cheeky game, where each crew member must say something they hate about another. In response, Bárbara and Solène pretend to (verbally) spar but end up hugging, causing Rainbeau to roll her eyes.

After brunch, Captain Kerry instructs his team to put their uniforms back on and return to their work modes. They need to clear the bridge from hell shortly. Therefore, their tender needs to come on board ASAP, he adds. Then, Caio offers a novel idea, stating that he can bring the tender in, which makes Captain Kerry quip that this memo has already sounded.

Rainbeau feels like a loner. She asks Solène for a hug, which Solène supplies while stating that it feels fake in her confessional.

After clearing the bridge, Captain Kerry asks Caio to watch his swing. Caio does not hear his command well. He wants Captain Kerry to repeat his statement. “F*cking idiot,” Captain Kerry utters right before reasking his question.

Communication failures continue as Captain Kerry swings the yacht into a slip. Frustrated, Captain Kerry calls Caio to the bridge. On the bridge, Captain Kerry warns Caio that he will be watching him during their next charter.

Calling his team together, Caio tells them that they need to use their brains instead of just following orders. He then blames Jess for an issue he helped cause. His team remains respectful, but Jess feels annoyed by his lack of accountability.

Kyle asks Solène if they can grab drinks later that night. Solène says yes. But first, new guests are arriving in the morning, so Captain Kerry must note that one is recovering from a broken arm and that this charter will feature two different excursions, one of which includes a round of beach volleyball against the crew.

Rain falls on Kyle and Solène during their date, which they love. Back on the yacht, they enter a guest cabin, where they remain until the morning.

Fraser steps off the yacht to call his boyfriend. They break up. Distance (and Damo’s lips) are a b*tch, eh? Thankfully, the next round of charter guests has arrived to help distract Fraser from the mess.

Once the guests are onboard, Captain Kerry pulls the yacht out of its slip and heads back towards the anxiety-causing bridge. He clears it with ease.

After dropping the anchor, Captain Kerry asks Jess to escort him to the beach. In the tender, Jess reveals that Caio is “scatterbrained.” Captain Kerry agrees.

In the crew mess, Bárbara and Jess bond. But it is now time for their volleyball competition on the beach, so off everyone goes. The guests win. So does Anthony, as everyone loves their beach lunch.

Not feeling the love is Jess, who reminds Caio that Kyle has yet to receive a break that day. There is no time, Caio replies. Caio then points out that the interior team is all present, and none of them are taking any breaks. In his talking head, Caio states that Jess should not have brought this up in front of others.

Caio rides back to the yacht with Captain Kerry. However, Caio fails to prepare the lines, which further frustrates Captain Kerry.

Captain Kerry is joining the guests for their Havana-themed dinner. Fraser gives Anthony a few tips, but Anthony shuts him down. Thankfully, his dinner service was a hit.

Rainbeau attempts to bond with Solène again. Once more, Solène gives in to her attempts, still finding them strange.

The next day, Captain Kerry radios for the deck team, asking if any of their guests are on the flybridge. “Copy, copy,” Caio radios back, not answering his question. After reminding Caio that he had asked a question, Caio finally answers correctly, noting that the guests are in the hot tub.

Solène tells Bárbara about her awkward encounter with Rainbeau. Bárbara laughs. She is also not vibing with Rainbeau.

Clearing the bridge of non-blessings once more, Caio fails during the docking. Once the yacht is secured, Captain Kerry heads down to fuss at his Bosun.

The guests depart. They loved their charter, leaving a much better tip than last week. But Captain Kerry is still bothered by Caio, so he calls him back to his wheelhouse, where he cuts Caio free from the rest of this season.

Below Deck continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
