Last week, bosun Caio Poltronieri walked the plank, making room for the new Below Deck Season 12 bosun, Hugo Ortega. Caio did his best. But he lacked the experience and communication skills needed to run this yacht successfully. So off Caio went, and on came Hugo. But who is Hugo, and does he have the proper background to pull this gig off?
What is Below Deck bosun Hugo Ortega’s age?
Hugo Ortega is in his early to mid-thirties.
Bravo has not yet released a bio for the newest yachtie, Hugo, and his age did not sound on his first episode of Below Deck Season 12. However, Hugo has an active LinkedIn page. And from here, we gleaned that he started his college career path in 2009, which makes him somewhere in his early to mid-thirties.
What was Hugo Ortega’s career before being a Below Deck bosun?
Before Below Deck, Hugo Oretga was an engineer turned yachtie who now runs courses on the industry through his company, Superyacht Sunday School.
According to his website, Hugo grew up in the Bronx. He then graduated with a B.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of Florida and moved to Houston to start his professional career. However, Hugo hated his chosen path, so when a recession hit his industry, he decided to explore the world. It was then that he met his first-ever yachtie, and the rest is history.
Now, Hugo owns a company called Superyacht Sunday School. This company offers courses on how others can also break into the yachting industry, even if they have zero experience.
What is Below Deck bosun Hugo Ortega’s Instagram?
Hugo Oretga can be found on Instagram via his handle, @superyachtsundayschool.
Hugo has one Instagram account, @superyachtsundayschool, which the current cast of Below Deck Season 12 all follow. On his page, Hugo states that he has led over 100 hopeful yachties into this industry. With over 59K followers before his first episode even airs, we can only assume that Hugo is about to explode all the more online.
Below Deck continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
