We definitely didn’t see this one coming. Married to Medicine star Dr. Heavenly Kimes has just announced her candidacy for Georgia State Representative. She officially kicked off her campaign yesterday, and she’s bringing one of her M2M cast members along for the ride. According to America’s favorite dentist, God called her to this mission, and now, she’s ready to serve.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes wants to offer the people of Georgia “real representation”
After teasing a “big announcement” for the last few days, Dr. Heavenly broke the news to People about her shift into politics. She’s running on the Democratic ticket for Georgia State Representative in District 9.
“I’m not a career politician. I’m a mom, a doctor, a business owner — and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in,” Dr. Heavenly said in a campaign video
She continued, “I’m running to serve, and I’m ready to work.”
Dr. Heavenly’s campaign website explains that some of the big issues she’s looking to tackle for Georgians are access to healthcare, criminal justice reform, education, and the economy. She said that her background in medicine and entrepreneurship will give her a unique perspective for serving her community.
“I’ve spent my life helping people build confidence, start businesses, and take control of their futures,” Heavenly said. “Now I’m bringing that same passion to the State Capitol. District 93 deserves someone who’s not just talking, but doing.”
Cameras are rolling for Season 12 of Married to Medicine, so we’ll likely see Heavenly’s path to politics play out on Bravo later this year. Plus, she’s invited her co-star, Quad Webb, to serve as her campaign manager. Prayers to anyone who has to face off against this ticket.
Heavenly officially kicks off her campaign tonight with a rally outside the George State Capitol. She has several town hall events and fundraisers scheduled for the rest of the summer. She’s also accepting donations via her website.
