When it comes to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams is only looking forward. She recently revealed that she refuses to watch old episodes of the series. She said she “literally runs from them” when they come on TV, except for one small exception.
Porsha “literally runs” from old RHOA episodes
Porsha joined Real Housewives of Atlanta in Season 5. At the time, she was Porsha Stewart, happily in love with Kordell Stewart. The cameras rolled as she navigated their subsequent divorce. She’s also documented her pregnancy, new relationships, and a second divorce, all for the Bravo audience to see. She’s lived a lot of life on TV, and she explained to Parade that she doesn’t need to live it twice.
“I lived it, you know, and I’m always onto the next phase of what’s happening in my life,” Porsha confessed.
That doesn’t mean she isn’t grateful for the experience. Porsha understands how people have connected with her stories over the years. She just doesn’t want to sit around and relive them.
“But I think that it’s been a blessing to be able to grow and learn and relate to people in the way that I relate to them,” Porsha explained.
She continued, “At the time when things are happening in my life, I’m not thinking about being relatable, but because I’m transparent, and because most people go through things that I’ve been through on camera, I end up being like their daughter, their niece, their auntie, their someone that they have known — or themselves who have been through the ups and downs, similar in life as me.”
According to Porsha, there is one small exception to the rule of watching old RHOA episodes. She said if she’s at her grandma’s house, there’s no stopping it. Grandma is going to watch those RHOA reruns, and Porsha just has to deal with it.
“Unless I’m at my grandmother’s house, and if it’s on, she’s going to watch it regardless,” Porsha said. “It’s like there’s nowhere to run. She is going to watch it, and she wants me to explain what I was thinking at the time, what was going on. So I have to watch it at my grandmother’s house.”
