For years, Brittany Cartwright was the ride-or-die. The southern sweetheart who stood by Jax Taylor’s side through cheating scandals, public meltdowns, and more gaslighting than a SUR back alley fight. But in the last episode of The Valley, something changed. And fans everywhere collectively exhaled. Because Brittany finally chose herself.
After seasons of brushing off red flags with a sweet smile and a Kentucky “bless his heart,” Brittany stopped playing the devoted wife and started playing defense. It took too long, there were too many tears, and Jax definitely made it harder than it needed to be, but in the end? She stood her ground. She said no. And she meant it. It’s the shift The Valley desperately needed. And the character arc that Brittany has always deserved.
Jax Taylor tried to manipulate Brittany Cartwright again
In true Jax fashion, Season 2 was his last-ditch effort to spin the narrative. Viewers watched as he tried more than once to talk to Brittany. But the conversations were full of vague apologies, crocodile tears, and a half-baked promise to go to therapy. Between every two promises, he sandwiched a lie.
Brittany wasn’t buying it. She spent the entire season fending off verbal attacks from her estranged husband. Cameras caught multiple toxic argument one of which included her outing his cocaine addiction. Another showed both raising their voices to an uncomfortable level.
In the first few episodes, he listened. She let him talk. And then she calmly reminded him that she’s heard it all before. This week’s scene was subtle, but powerful. Jax tried every classic move in his manipulation playbook: guilt-tripping, love bombing, blaming the edit. But Brittany didn’t flinch. Brittany didn’t cry. She didn’t reopen the door. She stood her ground and reiterated that she wanted Cruz, their son, to be nothing like his father. Ouch. It was the first time in years that she didn’t rush to defend him. And honestly? It felt like justice.
Brittany Cartwright still wants divorce
Earlier episodes showed Brittany wavering, understandably torn between her loyalty and her own well-being. The Valley finale is going to make it clear that she’s done. Not “taking a break” done. Not “let’s try counseling again” done. Actually done.
Jax has his chances and he blew all of them. During the latest episode, Jax seemed genuinely confused as to why his wife of 10 years would want to call it quits. During The Valley: After Show, Brittany revealed the first text she got from him. “I think he texted me something like, ‘Wow. Divorce, huh? I guess I saw it coming.’ Something like that. Like, it wasn’t mean, it wasn’t aggressive, like I was thinking it was gonna be,” she revealed.
When asked by Jax if she still wanted a divorce, Brittany didn’t hesitate. “Yes.” Full stop. It was a far cry from the Brittany we saw on Vanderpump Rules, who once begged for scraps of affection after the Faith Stowers scandal. This Brittany knows her worth. She’s no longer the woman covering for Jax’s outbursts or making excuses for his moods. She’s a mother, a businesswoman, and someone who finally sees the toll this marriage has taken on her mental and emotional health. And the best part? She made the decision without needing anyone’s approval. Not her friends. Not her family. And definitely not Jax.
Fans love that Brittany Cartwright finally stood her ground
If social media is any indication, Bravo fans are rejoicing. X threads, Reddit posts, and Instagram comments have been flooded with support for Brittany’s glow-up. Viewers who once rolled their eyes at her blind loyalty are now cheering her on like she just threw Jax’s protein powder in the trash. This is the Brittany we’ve been waiting for.
For most The Valley viewers it’s a full-circle moment. Brittany spent years being criticized for enabling Jax, but the reality is more complicated. Like so many women in toxic relationships, she was caught in a cycle of hope, guilt, and emotional manipulation. Watching her break free from that and do it publicly, on camera, isn’t just satisfying. It’s inspiring. She didn’t need to throw a drink or flip a table. She just needed to say “no more.” And she did.
The Valley is available to stream on Peacock. The show streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
