Ozzy Osbourne’s Cause of Death Revealed

The world recently lost a legendary voice in rock and metal music. Ozzy Osbourne, who fronted Black Sabbath before forging a solo career, passed away unexpectedly on July 22. He also found a second act in 2002 on MTV’s The Osbournes.

The reality show brought fans into Ozzy’s life at home with his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and children Jack Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne. The family’s hilarious exploits are part of reality TV history, as they were truly the first family of the genre. Ozzy’s music career received a boost when he was introduced to a new generation of fans.

The New York Times obtained a copy of Ozzy’s death certificate, which his daughter Aimée Osbourne filed in London. The certificate lists “out-of-hospital cardiac arrest” as Ozzy’s cause of death. “Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction” were also listed as causes. Ozzy suffered from limited mobility because of a quad bike accident in 2003. Although he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease the same year, he didn’t disclose his diagnosis to the world until 2020.

Fortunately, The Prince of Darkness was able to perform mere weeks before his death at a farewell concert for Black Sabbath. The show also featured many of Ozzy’s favorite musicians. Ozzy was in fine form, performing seated on a throne. “You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Ozzy told the crowd of fans at the show.

His funeral procession drove through Birmingham, England, his hometown. Ozzy’s hearse stopped at the infamous Black Sabbath Bench, and a distraught-looking Sharon placed a flower among the tributes left for her late husband. It was a truly heartbreaking moment.

Ozzy left behind an unmatched musical and reality TV legacy that will live on forever.

The Osbournes is streaming on Prime Video.
