Shannon Beador is once again in car trouble. The Real Housewives of Orange County star was given a traffic citation last May but she insists that she didn’t do anything wrong.
This is her second bout of trouble with traffic-related issues. In 2023, she was arrested for a hit and run and DUI. The aftermath played out on Season 18 of RHOC. It wasn’t an easy season for Shannon in general, but it looked like she had moved on from those mistakes. However, she was pulled over again recently for breaking another law.
Shannon Beador was caught on her phone behind the wheel almost two years after her DUI
The RHOC and Love Hotel star was pulled over and cited in Orange County last May for operating a handheld wireless telephone or electronic wireless communication device behind the wheel.
However, according to Shannon, she didn’t do anything wrong. She spilled her side on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
“Everything’s fine! I was coming from an interview confessional, and I got a new puppy, and when I was at a red light, my phone buzzed,” Shannon explained. She emphasized that she wasn’t driving when she “looked at it” and then quickly “put the phone down.”
According to Shannon, that’s when the police officer stopped her, citing California’s “no-touch” phone law. The law prohibits drivers from making physical contact with their mobile phones. Shannon claimed however, that the cop pulled her over “before” the new law went into effect.
“It’s not a moving violation, but people like to report,” Shannon shared. She admitted the ordeal was triggering for her and she asked the police officer what she did wrong. When he replied that she was texting, she said, “I wasn’t. I was at a red light, picked the phone up and put it down.”
Shannon, who is on probation until November 2026, is required to pay a $20 fine (for first time offenders) but won’t receive any points on her record.
The Real Housewives of Orange County continues Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
