An 84-year-old woman named Marion Goodgame just got dragged into the lawsuit between Michael Jackson and accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck. The legal battle has been going over for well over a decade, with Wade and James claiming they suffered childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a pop star. So, where does the elderly woman come into play? That’s the confusing part.
A mysterious subpoena has been issued in a lawsuit from Michael Jackson’s accusers

Michael died 16 years ago been dead for 16 years, but court documents reviewed by Us Weekly show his companies, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, subpoenaed Marion in July. They’re preparing to go to trial against the accusers, and they’re gathering evidence.
The details on Marion’s connection to Michael are unclear, but the subpoena gave some clues. It ordered Marion to turn over any communications with her daughter and former son-in-law related to the pop star. They asked Marion to turn over any photos of MJ and any media taken at Neverland Ranch. Additionally, they demanded any documentation showing money or gifts from Michael.
Earlier this month, Marion’s lawyers asked a Los Angeles judge to have the subpoena thrown out. They said it felt “aimed to unreasonably annoy, embarrass, oppress, and impose an unduly burden and expense on Goodgame.”
According to Marion’s legal team, she suffers from “multiple long-term and debilitating physical and mental health conditions.” They argued that forcing her to comply would put her at risk.
“Compelling her to appear for and participate in a deposition would likely subject her to significant discomfort and physical strain, thus imposing an undue burden and excavate [sic] her current condition,” Marion’s legal team wrote.
They continued, “She is expected to testify regarding highly troubling and sensitive subject matter involving her daughter’s sexual abuse.”
Further adding to the subpoena confusion, Marion’s lawyers claimed that Marion had zero firsthand knowledge of anything related to the case. They said she’s never been a party in any MJJ litigation. However, they did note that one of her family members had already done a deposition in a previous court case.
A judge has yet to decide if Marion will need to respond to the subpoena from Michael’s companies. In the meantime, questions linger on what they’re hoping to get from her. She and her family have no public connection to the late singer.
