Bravo’s soft reboot of Real Housewives of New York might have been the smartest decision they ever made. Even after Season 14’s conclusion, fans still debate who the show’s new breakout star was.
While the topic is still highly debatable, many fans found themselves glued to their seats for Jessel Taank. Viewers may have been initially unsure of her personality, but her humor and style of confrontation won over many.
By all accounts, Jessel seemed to love RHONY, and fans loved her just as well. So, while Bravo’s in between seasons, Jessel is letting the public get to know her a bit better, starting with a strange link to Michael Jackson.

Sitting down with Us Weekly for a “25 Things You Didn’t Know About Me” interview, Jessel said, “As a child, I thought Michael Jackson was my real dad and my parents had kidnapped me from him.” Of course, she later realized that was just her childhood imagination acting up. Looking back, she considered it part of her “weirdly intuitive” personality.
Jessel had plenty of other fun facts to share, ranging from silly to highly impressive. For example, she said, “My guilty pleasure is McDonald’s chicken nuggets with BBQ sauce.” Just as well, she shared, “I had a private Japanese tutor growing up and can converse in Japanese.” She also spoke about her love of Bollywood and the movie Clueless.
Among the other fun facts, Jessel went most in-depth on her hate for cilantro. “I cannot stand … the smell, the taste, the texture. It’s commonly used in Indian cuisine, and I used to throw a tantrum as a child when it was in my food. My mum thought she was outsmarting me by blending it into her cooking but I was so sensitive to it. I knew it was there and refused to eat.”
