She’s a free woman! Six months after going behind bars for her role in a DUI crash, Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger has been released from jail. Karen walked out of prison the morning of Tuesday, September 2. Multiple news outlets were positioned outside the jail to capture the big moment. Plus, it seems like a Bravo camera crew may have also been on the scene.
Karen Huger was released from prison in Maryland early, after serving six months of her sentence
Karen’s legal drama started last year after she crashed her Maserati in a drunken accident. She and her lawyers tried to fight the DUI charge, but when the humiliating bodycam footage came out, it became clear that she was in the wrong. We all remember where we were when we heard Karen tell the cops that she was “Thomas Jefferson’s concubine.”
Karen began her jail sentence for her DUI conviction on February 27, 2025, after being sentenced to two years in prison with one year suspended. She was taken into custody immediately upon receiving the verdict in a dramatic fall from grace for the RHOP OG.
Six months later, Karen has been released from custody after serving only half of her sentence. We assume this means she was on her best behavior during her stay.
According to a boots-on-the-ground report from Jade Lawson, a reporter with 7 News DC, Bravo cameras may have been at the detention center to capture the moment Karen walked free. She told us that a camera crew entered the facility, but news outlets weren’t allowed inside. That means we might get a glimpse of Karen in Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10 after all.
