The artistic fashion visionary Giorgio Armani passed away on Sept 5th. He was 91 years old and built a billion-dollar empire on timeless and classy fashion, taking Hollywood movies and red carpets to new heights. Jennifer Tilly of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills joins Tinseltown’s elite in paying tribute to the late designer.
This isn’t the first time Jennifer has had to bid farewell to a loved one. Earlier this year, she shared an emotional tribute to her friend Michael Madsen when he passed. Now, she’s commemorating another icon who made an impact on her life.
Jennifer Tilly credits Giorgio Armani with making her a “movie star”
Jennifer took to social media to share her thoughts on Giorgio Armani’s passing. In her simple and touching tribute, she highlighted how much the Italian designer meant to her.
“RIP Mr. Armani,” Jennifer said in her message. “Thank you for whisking me off to Milan and making a movie star out of me!”
Indeed, Jennifer is not the only actress who has worn Armani throughout the years. The fashion dynamo has dressed stars for the red carpet for years, including some of the biggest names in the industry, like Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Jodie Foster, and Tina Turner, to name a few.
He has also made an indelible impact on the movies, too. His creations are seen in films like American Gigolo starring Richard Gere, Goodfellas, and The Untouchables. Who can forget how sharp Kevin Costner looked as Elliot Ness in that sharp three-piece suit in the film? He also dressed long-time friend Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.
So Jennifer is not far off in saying Armani helped make movie stars. She also isn’t the only movie star to pay tribute to him. Leonardo, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, and Morgan Freeman are also among the Hollywood elite who shared their own touching tributes to the late designer.
“What a dream it was to work with Giorgio Armani! A legendary designer who offered the world so much style, elegance & grace,” Reese shared in a carousel of photos of her in Armani designs.
Jennifer is in good company indeed. And with her love for fashion, it’s not surprising she paused to commemorate the loss of such a visionary.
