Robert Irwin Teaches DWTS Pro Partner Witney Carson Aussie Slang

We’re all here for the fun rehearsal videos for Dancing with the Stars Season 34. As we wait for the competition to officially kick off, many couples are sharing fun behind-the-scenes videos of rehearsals and hanging out. The latest clip from Robert Irwin is a hilarious session of him teaching partner Witney Carson some Aussie slang.

Robert was among the first cast members revealed for DWTS’ latest season, and he has been raring to go. He’s thrilled to be partnered with Witney because he’s known her for over a decade. The two have been spending a lot of time together. That’s why he thought it would be good to teach her some of his Aussie expressions.

Robert Irwin and Witney Carson have great chemistry for Dancing with the Stars

In the latest update shared by the pair, Robert posted a video of him and Witney post-rehearsals and having some fun together. Robert mentioned they had been rehearsing for over a week (which is longer than some other pairs!) He thought it was high time to teach her some of the Australian slang he often uses.

He posted the video to social media with the caption, “Putting @witneycarson’s Aussie knowledge to the test! What a ripper!”

Then he showed her some words on his phone and asked if she knew what they meant. The wildlife conservationist had fans in stitches between Witney’s guesses and his killer American accent when he copied what she said.

Some of the classic words included “arvo,” which Witney thought meant “cool” and really meant “afternoon.” Another one was “dunny.” Witney thought it meant “done,” which, to be fair, is a good guess. But it actually means “toilet”

One that Witney got straightaway was “fair dinkum,” which means “that’s true!” And she finished strong, knowing that “true blue” means a “true friend” or a real one. Fans loved seeing the duo interact and learning more about Aussie culture while watching.

“Oh, they are so winning this!” a follower posted on their video. Another added, “I’m rooting and voting for them all the way!”

They definitely have the chemistry! Now they just need to show it in the ballroom. Robert is looking to follow in his sister Bindi Irwin’s winning footsteps, and he’s going to channel his dad’s passion off and on the dance floor.

Dancing with the Stars Season 34 will premiere on Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
