Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Miami hasn’t been easy for Alexia Nepola. She’s had her ups and downs, but the one person who’s always there for her is her 28-year-old son Frankie Rosello.
“He’s my life,” Alexia told Marysol Patton. “I couldn’t live without him.”
I have to admit having a huge soft spot for Frankie and the close relationship he has with his mother. Though I may not always agree with his mom, I’m down to celebrate every bit of progress Frankie has made since his accident. He’s an inspiration.
Alexia Nepola can always find support in her son Frankie Rosello
In August 2011, then-13-year-old Frankie was in a terrible car crash. He spent three months in a medically-induced coma and has a permanent traumatic brain injury. Alexia and her other son Peter Rosello’s lives were forever changed by Frankie’s accident.
During RHOM Season 7, Alexia shared Frankie’s latest medical emergency. When he was extremely ill and diagnosed with diverticulitis, Alexia admitted the experience “took [her] back” his accident.
On the Real Housewives of Miami After Show, Alexia described how much her life has changed since Frankie’s brain injury. “My life is a lot different from everybody else in the friend group,” she explained.
When Marysol told Alexia she was “making [her] cry,” Alexia admitted she was holding in her own tears. “I was trying to keep the tears in,” she said. “Obviously, when I talk about my kids, it’s my soft spot. But, thank God for my children, and my friends.”
Additionally, Alexia has been dealing with her divorce from Todd Nepola. The constant back and forth of hooking up, reconciliation and going ahead with the divorce was not only confusing, but extremely stressful. As Marysol pointed out, her friend’s daily responsibility for her adult son just adds to that stress.
“I don’t think people realize that you have Frankie with you 24 hours a day,” Marysol went on. “You drive him with you everywhere; you take him to work with you. It’s a lot.”
“I don’t play victim,” Alexia responded. “I’ve accepted this is my life, and I’m grateful. I love it.”
But she gave credit to her younger son for helping her through the divorce. “If I wouldn’t have had Frankie by my side, I don’t know where I would be,” she added. “Because he’s everything,”
“He keeps you grounded,” Marysol pointed out. “You could get very jaded … very angry with life. But he reminds you of love.”
Agreeing with her friend, Alexia acknowledged, “He reminds me how blessed we are … To me, he’s not a burden.”
The Real Housewives of Miami airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo in the US. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
