A new group of competitors is set to samba into the ballroom for Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars. A diverse cast, including actor Corey Feldman, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, and conservationist Robert Irwin, is set to show off their moves on DWTS. And while I can’t wait to see them shine, I wish that Season 27 Mirrorball winner Bobby Bones wasn’t trying to steal their thunder.
The cast for Season 34 has many celebrities with zero dance experience, like The Traitors winner Dylan Efron and actress Danielle Fishel. Bobby was in that exact situation, and he won the Mirrorball with his partner, Sharna Burgess.

Of course, Bobby was one of the most controversial DWTS winners – ever. Somehow, even with continuous low scores and poor dance moves, his fans helped him win. As a result, the voting and judging rules were changed for the next season.
Recently, Bobby was a guest on the Trading Secrets podcast, hosted by Jason Tartick. “I cheated, in the way of they give you a limited amount of time with your partner,” Bobby explained. “Like, four hours a day, they say.”
The popular radio host continued, “So we would do our four, I would record the session and then go by myself and rent a studio myself and train myself. Like, illegally spent time over … because I was so far behind everybody else.” There should be no cheating in ballroom!
“I wasn’t in any way polarizing on the show, other than I sucked,” he said. “I didn’t run out and [say], like, ‘I’m the best.'” Meanwhile, Bobby also faced criticism from those who were part of DWTS.
In 2024, current host and former judge Julianne Hough stated that Bobby shouldn’t have taken home the Mirrorball because he was “not the best dancer.” Welp, I guess in this case, cheating did pay off.
Dancing with the Stars Season 34 premieres on Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
