Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2 paid tribute to One-Hit Wonders. The contestants performed to catchy tunes by Toni Basil, Wild Cherry, and Sir Mix-A-Lot, among others.
Last time, the celebrities hit the ballroom for their first dance. It seemed like most of the contestants had some nerves, but overall, almost everyone turned in a solid performance. However, the judging was a bit wild. With judge Carrie Ann Inaba unable to attend due to illness, we had some lower-than-usual scores, followed by some higher-than-usual scores.
Since no one was eliminated last time, that means that two celebrities will shuffle-ball-change out of the ballroom. A double elimination is always nerve-wracking.
What happened in Dancing with the Stars Season 34, Episode 2?
The ballroom was on fire! The DWTS contestants and their partners performed a wide range of styles, including the tango, cha-cha, quickstep, samba, jive, and foxtrot. This week’s scores will be combined with last week’s scores and votes to decide who will be leaving the show.
The high-energy opening number, choreographed by Emma Slater, was set to Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory, featuring the new Season 34 troupe: Jaxon Willard, Onye Stevenson, Carter Williams, and Hailey Bills.
This week, the third judge will sum up their thoughts in just one word. Of course, Bruno Tonioli struggled a bit to maintain his word limit. Overall, nearly all the DWTS contestants improved their scores and delivered better performances. With so many good performers and dancers, Season 34 is shaping up to be a thriller.
Who was eliminated in Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2?

Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson, along with Baron Davis and Britt Stewart, were eliminated in Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2.
When the results were revealed, there was one surprise. Actor Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson landed at the bottom of the leaderboard for both weeks one and two. So, their elimination wasn’t a shocker. Once again, the couple’s cha-cha was entertaining. However, I think Bruno said it best when he quipped that we are “entering the realm of the bizarre.” However, judge Derek Hough called the routine “memorable.”
“Well, Jenna is amazing. I feel … I feel really terrible because she deserved better,” Corey stated. “She deserves to be the champ every year in my book because she’s really great.”
The second eliminated contestant was NBA star Baron Davis and his partner, Britt Stewart. This week, the duo performed a samba, which earned them 18 out of 30 points. Baron and Britt were tied with Scott Hoying and Rylee Arnold with 28 points, while Andy Richter’s score was 25 points, hovering just above the bottom of the leaderboard. I don’t think anyone expected Baron to turn in his dance shoes this early.
“Britt is … she’s incredible. She’s an incredible coach,” Baron said. “She’s going to win the Mirrorball. I wanted to do that for her, but the judges thought differently.” Ouch!
Who got the top score of the night in Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2?

Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas tied with Robert Irwin and Witney Carson with the highest score in Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2.
Once again this week, wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and Witney Carson topped the leaderboard, along with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt and her partner, Mark Ballas. Both couples ended the night with a score of 37 points.
Whitney’s cha-cha with Mark to Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry was sexy, steamy, and kind of funky. It was my favorite dance of the night. “That was a killer cha-cha. It was so hot I am melting,” Bruno raved.
Meanwhile, Witney and Robert danced a tango to Move Your Feet by Junior Senior. It featured a dance break in the middle. While Bruno called the routine “powerful, clean, clear,” Derek simply remarked, “Crikey!” Well, it looks like these two couples are the early frontrunners for the Mirrorball. However, they have some stiff competition nipping at their sequins.
What were the judge’s scores in DWTS Season 34 Episode 2?

- Robert and Witney (Tango) – 37 points
- Whitney and Mark (Cha-Cha) – 37 points
- Hilaria and Gleb (Tango) – 35 points
- Alix and Val (Jive) – 34 points
- Jen and Jan (Quickstep) – 34 points
- Lauren and Brandon (Foxtrot) – 34 points
- Elaine and Alan (Jive) – 33 points
- Jordan and Ezra (Jive) – 32 points
- Danielle and Pasha (Cha-Cha) – 31 points
- Dylan and Daniella (Samba) – 30 points
- Baron and Britt (Samba) – 28 points
- Scott and Rylee (Cha-Cha) – 28 points
- Andy and Emma (Tango) – 25 points
- Corey and Jenna (Cha-Cha) – 24 points
Jordan Chiles and her partner, Ezra Sosa’s, jive was fun. Jordan jumped over Ezra’s head and then launched into a flawless tumble. Carrie Ann said that Jordan reminded her of the legendary Tina Turner. They earned 22 points out of 30, which was a big improvement over last week’s scores.
Another standout was influencer Alix Earle and her pro, Val Chmerkovskiy. They also danced a jive, this time to the earworm Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of … ) by Lou Bega. Derek praised the pair, who earned 22 out of 30 points, as a “powerhouse partnership.”
While Andy and Emma still landed in the bottom two, his tango routine to The Weather Girls’ hit, It’s Raining Men, was funny and entertaining. “You truly capture the essence of why this show was created,” Derek said, praising Andy’s “joy” and “hard work.” You can’t help smiling when Andy is performing. And The Traitors alum Dylan Efron’s hips won praise from the judges, with Carrie Ann calling them “expert-level” and Bruno calling Dylan a “snake-hipped wonder.”
Final thoughts on Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Episode 2
I thought that the performances in this episode were fantastic for the most part. The contestants seemed more at ease, and the competition is fierce. Ten couples on the leaderboard had scores above 30 points.
Robert and Whitney, who tied for first place, scored 37 points. That is a large field of competitors who have potential. And that is what makes Season 34 of DWTS so exciting.
Next week will be interesting, as it will be TikTok Night. Season 31 winner Charli D’Amelio will be back in the ballroom. Will she perform with her former partner, Mark? Fingers crossed! Since Jen Affleck, Whitney, and Alix are all TikTok stars, this could make for a memorable night of performances. I wonder if the couples will incorporate some TikTok dance trends in their routines? Stay tuned!
Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
