During the premiere episode of Sister Wives Season 20, Kody Brown and Robyn Brown discussed whether or not plural marriage was still their cup of tea. As fans can recall, before Robyn entered his life, Kody had three other wives. But as Sister Wives progressed, we saw all three of these wives exiting, leaving Kody and Robyn alone in a monogamous marriage. Now, Kody and Robyn are reeling, wondering if they should add a new wife and start this mess all over again, or remain exclusive as a duo.
As Episode 1 of this new season aired, both Kody and Robyn shared their feelings. Luckily, they are on the same page. However, Kody did make one statement that had Robyn cringing. As for his three former spiritual wives, they are all thriving in their Kody-free new lives. Here’s what happened.
Sister Wives recap: What happened in Season 20 Episode 1?

Meri Brown is jumping back into the dating pool following her split from Kody. She deserves happiness, and we hope she finds a real one this time.
Meanwhile, the newlyweds, Christine Brown and David Woolley, are also moving forward. (Literally). During the first episode of Sister Wives Season 20, they decided to hop in their car to visit the third and final (for now) ex-wife in their family.
Janelle Brown now lives in North Carolina. She has purchased a property that is all her own.
However, the biggest issue during Episode 1 concerned Kody and Robyn, who needed to figure out how to move forward in their marriage. Will they agree to add another wife? Or have they lost that loving feeling for their former polygamous lifestyle?
Kody and Robyn Brown admit they are “monogamous.”

When his other wives left, Kody and Robyn had no choice but to admit that they were now in a monogamous marriage. That said, this statement has often arrived with reluctance from both parties. They enjoyed their large family, or so they stated on Sister Wives. Regardless, their circumstances were out of their control, they stressed.
“There’s this strange thing that Robyn and I were in a plural marriage together,” Kody explained. “It all came together, and then they all just left. Like we’re monogamous, but we didn’t choose that. I’m now in a different marriage than I’ve ever been in,” he whined.
As for Robyn’s take, “If there was somebody who was really supportive and really wanted to work and really wanted a relationship with me as well as with you, not just you,” she might be all in on adding another wife to this family. If this new woman checked all these boxes, “Then we had a guarantee that it was going to be OK and it was going to be wonderful and it was going to be what I always dreamed it was supposed to be, that would be something to really, truly consider.”
Kody and Robyn opened up about their relationship in confessionals

In her confessional, however, Robyn shared how essential polygamist marriages were for her life. In the past, Robyn has even turned down potential suitors who were not like-minded on this topic. “I could have lived monogamy just fine. Different men at different times said, ‘You know, I’d marry you in a heartbeat … and I was like, Well, I plan to live a plural marriage.”
In his talking head, Kody admitted that his failed marriages still sting. It still feels like he is taking the “walk of shame,” he said. Regardless, Kody is not shutting down the idea of adding another wife.
“I don’t know what space Robyn is in, and I don’t know what space we’ll be in in two or three years,” he said. Nevertheless, “I almost feel like turning the tables and saying, ‘Well, do you want to get back in plural marriage?'”
Back in her confessional, Robyn revealed that another member of the family once asked if polygamous marriage was still on the table. In response, Robyn admitted, “I wasn’t quite sure what to say to him. I feel like if this is still something that’s a part of me, then wouldn’t I live it?”
Why Kody wants to add another wife to the family

As stated on the premiere episode of Sister Wives Season 20, Kody actually has a specific reason for wanting to add another wife to the family. It’s sex. “My primary motivation, I’m afraid, at this stage in my life, would be how good-looking she is,” he told Robyn, who immediately started laughing. “I’m not kidding,” Kody stressed.
“You don’t understand how you’re coming across,” Robyn answered. “I know. I’m a guy and I don’t freaking care,” Kody bluntly responded. In her confessional, Robyn said, “You’re just kinda being a pig right now. For me, I’m like, OK, so you have a real relationship with me. But then she’s just like, what? A concubine? ‘Cause that’s pretty much what that is.”
Then, Kody switched gears, saying, “I’m just not interested in having the drama in my life of another woman.” Overall, Kody feels “done” with polygamy, since “the idea of it just breaks my heart. So, it’s you and me, baby. Monogamy, does it work for you? Will it work for you?” Kody asked Robyn.
As Robyn answered, “Sounds good … It sounds good, I’m good.” Kody then said, “OK, it’s a deal.” Putting this topic to bed, they then sealed this deal with a kiss.
