RHOP’s Ashley Darby Reveals Hopes for Karen Huger After Prison Release

In case you didn’t already know, Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger is out of the slammer. On September 2, the Grand Dame of Potomac was released early for good behavior. Her friends and family are certainly thrilled to have her back.

During her trial, Karen faced charges of driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, speeding and driving with a suspended registration. In addition, she was charged for failing to report a change of address to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

It only took the jury only two days to find Karen guilty and sentence her to two years in prison, with one year suspended. Furthermore, she faces five years of probation and a longer suspension of her driver’s license following her release. Fortunately, Karen served only six months in prison, where she was supposedly “running” the place, according to Gizelle Bryant.

At the recent RHOP Season 10 premiere party, Ashley Darby opened up about her close friend. In fact, Ashley has already done a wellness check on her mentor. “Yes, I did a little check in on Karen,” she shared. “She’s been taking her time to … really connect with her family. So I’m hoping to see her very soon, when she’s ready.”

“I sent her some flowers addressed to ‘Lady H,’ as is appropriate,” she added. “But I really do want to see her.”

Following the verdict, a shocked Karen sat down with an RHOP producer to film a short video. Andy Cohen played the video for her castmates during the Season 9 reunion, which Karen skipped.

“My heart dropped,” she admitted. “This is very frightening, but I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident … I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt … I know a lot of young children look up to me right now. [They] call me Auntie Karen, [the] Grand Dame. Do as I say, not as I do.”

Sadly, Karen’s release didn’t come soon enough to allow her to film Season 10, so RHOP will go on without her – for this season, at least.

The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10 premieres on October 5 at 8/7c on Bravo, streaming on Peacock the following day in the US. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
