Aaron Phypers has been arrested following felony charges filed against him by the State of California. The arrest occurred during a break at a hearing related to a restraining order filed by his ex-wife, Denise Richards. While the arrest was made on October 17, Michael Finley, Phypers’ lawyer, told PEOPLE that they are expecting the case to be “proven false.”
Aaron Phypers is facing four criminal charges by the State of California
Denise Richards and AaronPhypers tied the knot in 2018, and split up in 2025. Richards then filed a restraining order against her ex-husband. He was facing criminal charges for allegedly hurting his spouse or someone else he lives with, and for trying to dissuade a witness using threats. In total, four felony charges were made against the 53-year-old actor.
While on the stand, Richards mentioned that she was physically abused in the relationship and stated that Phypers caused her “at least three concussions.” The 54-year-old actor also alleged that her estranged husband used to “threaten” her that he would throw her “through the windows and off balconies.”
When Phypers took the stand, he mentioned that he had “never physically harmed Denise Richards.”
During the court hearing, Phypers was taken into custody. His attorney later confirmed that he was arrested, and told PEOPLE, “I have not seen the criminal complaint yet, however, based upon the little that I have been told, it appears to be the same allegations we’re already fighting and I think proving to be false in the domestic violence case.” He added, “So, we expect it to also be proven false and for him to be exonerated.”
