Charlie Sheen Lost $1 Million to Denise Richards as Joke

Charlie Sheen recently revealed in an interview that he once sent an expensive check to his ex-wife, Denise Richards, on her birthday as a prank. Sheen and Richards began dating and got engaged in 2001. The pair tied the knot a year later and were together for four years until Richards filed for divorce in 2005, which was finalized in 2006. The former couple share two children: 21-year-old Sami and 20-year-old Lola.

Charlie Sheen admits giving $1 million check to Denise Richards

In a recent interview, Charlie Sheen admitted that he tried to prank his ex-wife, Denise Richards, by sending her a $1 million check on her birthday. However, his prank backfired after Richards cashed it.

“I wrote a check to Denise once for $1 million on her birthday, kind of as a joke, and she kept it not as a joke,” the Two and a Half Men actor shared on Kevin Clancy’s KFC Radio. “And then, like, a month later, f***ing cashed it.”

Charlie Sheen added that he couldn’t recall whether the prank took place during their marriage. To this, Kevin Clancy said he couldn’t decide which scenario would be “funnier.”

The 60-year-old wondered if his inability to recall the exact time the prank occurred made its aftermath “sting more.” However, he understood why Denise Richards cashed the check, admitting he would do the same if the roles were reversed.

Despite understanding The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s actions, Sheen wished that she had informed him of her plans to cash the check. “Hey, you sound like you’re driving somewhere,” he added, imagining how their conversation would have played out had she informed him. “Yeah, to the bank, actually!”

Although the prank was bold, Sheen expressed gratitude for the fact that there was enough money to cover the check. He also emphasized that the prank was more about the “gesture” than the money itself.

Meanwhile, Clancy pointed out the positive aspect of the prank. He reminded Sheen that he was doing great financially if he could “accidentally give people a million bucks.”
