You can’t blame this on witchcraft. Real Housewives of Potomac alum Nneka Ihim has found herself caught in the middle of Hurricane Melissa as it battered Jamaica. She documented her unexpectedly chaotic trip on social media, and fans are sending her best wishes.
Nneka Ihim’s fans warned her to “stay safe”
Over the last two weeks, Nneka has been sharing adorable pictures of her family vacationing in various destinations. They started in Mexico before arriving in Jamaica a few days ago. She uploaded an adorable picture of herself holding her brand-new baby with blue skies and palm trees in the background.
“Vacationing with my honey is my new favorite hobby,” Nneka wrote.
A lot has changed since then. On Tuesday, October 28, the former RHOP star shared another video of herself out on her hotel balcony as hurricane-force winds nearly blew her away. She explained to her fans how she and her family wound up stuck at the resort to wait out the Category 5 storm. Truly, it’s a nightmare scenario.
Nneka said, “Hey guys, I’m just doing a quick follow-up. A lot of people have been messaging me, asking me, ‘How and why am I still in Jamaica?’”
“Well, what happened was, when we heard that the storm was coming, which is actually already here. We initially were trying to exit as soon as possible, but the country of Jamaica closed the airport,” Nneka continued. “So not the airline, not American Airlines, not United Airlines, not Delta. The country closed the airports two days ago.”
If the country closes the airport, there’s really not much you can do. Nneka said she felt confused by Jamaica’s decision because at the time of the closure, the weather seemed fine. There seemed like plenty of time to get out.
“The skies were clear, the beach water was blue, the weather was perfect. It’s been perfect for the past two days. So we still don’t even know why the airport was closed because the weather was great for flying,” she explained.
Now, she and her family are trying to stay safe and make the best out of a horrifying situation. Nneka said the hotel has been “very accommodating” by providing food and water. She remains hopeful that they’ll be able to return home later this week.
Nneka concluded, “They’ve done their best to take care of us and accommodate us, and they’re in very good spirits. They’re playing music, they’re playing games, and trying to keep us distracted from what’s going on outside, but I’m not here by choice.
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
