Life has been weird for Clayton Echard over the last couple of years. The former Bachelor had a fling with a woman he met through his real estate business, and she turned around and claimed that he impregnated her with twins. He jumped on Instagram in October 2023, celebrating the results of a paternity test. He was not the father!
Apparently, the story didn’t stop there. In a new interview, the Bachelor Nation alum claimed that he was targeted by a scammer, and she’s now facing seven felony charges.

In a shocking new interview with Inside Edition, Clayton broke his silence on the alleged pregnancy scam that nearly derailed his life. He said that the woman, Laura Owens, is the “most crazy individual” he’s ever met. That’s a lot coming from someone who went on TV and dated 30 women at the same time.
“I told her that last night was a mistake, I shouldn’t have crossed that professional boundary,” Clayton recalled of the fling, adding that they “didn’t have sex.”
However, less than two weeks after their encounter, she reached out saying that she was pregnant. She started sending him pictures of ultrasounds and photos of her “pregnant” belly. Clayton said it was all a lie.
“She was just taking medications in order to appear bloated,” the Bachelor alum claimed. “She wasn’t pregnant at all.”
Eventually, Laura took Clayton to court with a paternity suit. She later circled back and claimed she suffered a miscarriage. When she tried to drop the suit, the court wound up indicting her for presenting a false claim in court. She faces seven felony charges.
Of course, Clayton was thrilled by that news, but the case took an even stranger turn when two other men came forward saying they were victims of the same exact scam, all the way down to the twin detail. Now, they worry Laura will find someone else to pull in with the pregnancy story.
