On May 19, 2008, Meghan Markle walked down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel to wed Prince Harry. The event was watched by millions around the world. It garnered quite a bit of attention as Meghan, who was from the U.S., married into the royal family.
Meanwhile, the wedding guest list features some big celebrities, such as George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, and Serena Williams. However, the real star of the show was Meghan’s wedding gown. Her simple, yet elegant Givenchy dress continues to impress, even today. It was a bit surprising as it was not as ornate and extravagant as many expected.
Full details surrounding Meghan Markle’s wedding dress have been revealed

Clare Waight Keller, who was at the time the artistic director of Givenchy, designed Meghan’s white silk gown. It reflected an Audrey Hepburn vibe, channeling a timeless feel. In addition, Meghan’s wedding dress featured a sculpted waist, simple bateau neckline, and a five-meter train featuring triple layers of silk organza. The dress’s estimated value landed at around $150,000. And that doesn’t include her stylish shoes and accessories.
“Meghan’s gown completely changed the tone of bridal fashion,” a fashion source told OK! Magazine. “Its clean lines and understated design were a striking contrast to all the lace-heavy trends of the time. Almost overnight, brides started searching for satin dresses in record numbers – and that influence still hasn’t faded.”
However, the most expensive item worn by Meghan was the sparkling Queen Mary’s bandeau tiara. The late Queen Elizabeth lent the tiara, worth an estimated $2.6 million, to the bride. Plus, Meghan’s Stella McCartney halter-neck gown for her wedding reception drew raves.
Unfortunately, Meghan’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, received mixed reviews from fans. Now, she is once again pursuing her original career, stepping back into the acting game.
With Love, Meghan is streaming on Netflix.
