It all started so well. Shahs of Sunset alum Mercedes MJ Javid and estranged husband Tommy Feight filed for divorce, and it seemed peaceful. On social media, days before the filing, they were still posting videos together. Now, though it appears that they are not in total agreement. Tommy just asked the judge to shut down MJ’s demand for primary custody of their six-year-old son.
MJ Javid’s divorce just got a little more complicated
According to US Weekly, Tommy filed court documents on November 18 in response to the divorce petition filed by MJ.
In the original filing, MJ cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. She stated neither party was seeking spousal support, and she requested primary physical and legal custody. Tommy would be allowed visitation.
Both parties listed the marriage date as April 21, 2018, and the separation date as October 17, 2025. However, in Tommy’s filing, he asked for the court not to grant MJ sole custody but instead to award joint physical and legal custody.
He wrote, “I am an involved and committed father to our son.”
Tommy shared that he participates in their son, Sham’s, daily routine, including school drop-offs and pick-ups, bedtime, activities, meals, and even homework. “I have a strong, loving relationship with him and he is comfortable, safe, and happy in my care.”
He said that he wants to be able to continue to share responsibilities and “continue a consistent and stable parenting schedule.”
The pair have moved out of their shared home and, according to MJ, moved into separate homes quite close to one another (less than a minute drive). With the proximity, Tommy sees Shams frequently. But Tommy thinks it’s in their son’s best interest to have “frequent and continued contact with both parents.”
His listing made no mention of spousal support or lack thereof. It appears he just wants joint custody at this time. Time will tell if MJ is going to agree with this. It seems she is set on sole custody. However, she may be open to help if she gets busy again. She is set to return to Bravo with Shahs costars for The Valley: Persian Style.
