Mormon Wives’ Mikayla Matthews Reacts to Season 3 Reunion Backlash

Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of sexual assault allegations.

Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was fantastic. The reunion? Not so much. Some fans felt like the special was rushed. Plus, many cast members didn’t have a chance to discuss their thoughts about the season. Now, Mikayla Matthews is sounding off about the SLOMW reunion.

For the third season reunion, Vanderpump Villa star Stassi Schroeder took on hosting duties. She vibed much better with the MomTok crew than with the previous host, Bachelor alum Nick Viall. However, parts of this reunion seemed abrupt, like much of the footage had been cut out.

Mikayla Matthews revealed the SLOMW Season 3 reunion “filmed for 12 hours”

Thankfully, Mikayla is setting the record straight in her recent TikTok. “First, I think we filmed for 12 hours, that in itself is a problem. It’s hard to get 12 hours of footage down to an hour,” she explained.

However, that wasn’t the biggest problem for Mikayla. “With the whole Demi [Engemann] of it all, I obviously have an issue with her using not only my story,” Mikayla stated, “but Mayci [Neeley’s] story and then Jessi [Ngatikaura] opened up. She felt that Demi was “almost guilting people for what they’ve been through and not believing what she’s saying.” She added, “It was very triggering.”

As you may recall, Mikayla revealed during Season 2 of SLOMW that she was the victim of childhood sexual abuse. Meanwhile, Demi alleged that she was the victim of “unwanted touch” in Italy courtesy of Vanderpump Villa alum Marciano Brunette. After denying her accusations, Marciano filed a lawsuit against Demi and SLOMW producer Jeff Jenkins for defamation.

As for Mikayla, she wished that she had more time at the reunion to speak about her storyline, adding that her issues seemed “almost pushed under the rug.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is now streaming on Hulu.
