Things got heated between Craig Conover and Austen Kroll during the latest episode of Southern Charm. They were at Whitner Slagsvol’s birthday party, and a few digs from Austen sent Craig over the edge.
Of course, this is reality TV, so there was much more that went down that we didn’t see on screen. According to Craig, he and Craig were fighting for nearly two hours before the blow-up we saw in Season 11 Episode 3. In a new interview, he explained what caused all of the tension.
Craig Conover and Austen Kroll had beef before their on-camera argument
The drama at Whitner’s birthday party spilled over from Episode 3 into Episode 4. However, Craig explained on SiriusXM’s Reality Checked that audiences weren’t privy to what happened before the party.
According to Craig, he and Austen got into a “huge fight” before the party. He said producers chose to “cut it” because it broke the fourth wall. What we saw on TV was Craig finally reaching his breaking point with Austen, after hours of bickering.
Craig explained, “So by the time Whitner’s party happened and Austen like chirped me and I freaked out, I was like, there was a two-hour fight before that where like I made Austen promise that he wasn’t going to do this, and producers were like, ‘What guys, this is so fourth wall,’ and it was about like some new cast members”
With over a decade of reality TV under his belt, Craig knows that this type of thing comes with the territory. He said that he wanted to share the extra context for “fun.” But now he’s got us over here itching to know more tea about this two-hour fight.
He added, “A lot of times the viewer doesn’t get all of that context and you just have to be okay with it, but sometimes it is fun to talk about it and be like, ‘Guys, we didn’t just show up to this party and just scream at each other.’”
