The New Year seems to be off to a scary start for one reality TV alum. This reality vet just experienced a terrifying health scare. And it resulted in the former Breaking Amish star being “life flighted” to another medical facility for further treatment.
When Breaking Amish was a hit for TLC in 2012, it was a bit of a surprise. The series followed a group of five Amish young people as they navigated life outside of their communities. It spawned a spinoff, titled Breaking Amish: A Brave New World. Now, one of the original cast members, Jeremiah Raber, is sharing his recent health struggle.

Jeremiah posted a TikTok from a hospital bed on December 30, 2025. He wrote that he was “waiting to be life flighted to another hospital.” He was suffering from high blood sugar, which spiked to 993. In addition, Jeremiah shared that he was facing “possible liver failure.” The following day, he shared another TikTok, showing him being transported to a helicopter while on a stretcher.
Thankfully, Jeremiah’s next TikTok update on January 2 was more positive. “Huge thank you to all the people who have been praying for me. I truly appreciate it!!! I’m doing good and will be out tomorrow!”
However, this isn’t Jeremiah’s only recent medical scare. TMZ reported that in 2024, he was hospitalized for diabetic ketoacidosis and heart issues. Diabetic ketoacidosis occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, and it can be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah and his fellow Breaking Amish co-stars faced their fair share of controversy. Allegations surfaced that the cast wasn’t as sheltered as the show suggested. A reunion was added to address these rumors, including reports that Jeremiah had been married with three children, and actually left the Amish community years before the show debuted. In addition, Kate Stoltzfus reportedly was angling for her own show and no longer wanted to be part of Breaking Amish.
