Meghan Markle has largely stayed away from Britain since she and Prince Harry settled into life in California. After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, her presence in the UK became rare and tightly controlled. Public tension with the royal family, criticism of palace life, and Harry’s later memoir only deepened the distance.
Meghan last returned to Britain in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Since then, she has remained stateside, with security concerns and unresolved family strain shaping that decision. For years, a visit to the UK seemed unlikely. However, that picture may be shifting.
Meghan could return to the UK in the summer

RadarOnline reports Meghan could return to Britain this summer for the first time in four years. The potential visit centers on a major Invictus Games milestone, though approval is not guaranteed.
Meghan is reportedly planning to travel with Harry to attend a one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games. The event would take place in Birmingham and mark an important moment for the international competition Harry founded.
A source told The Sun, “Security is always going to be the deciding factor in this.”
Meghan has supported the Invictus Games in the past and joined Harry at events in Canada and Germany. A UK visit presents more challenges. Any return requires approval from a government security committee reviewing whether the couple qualifies for taxpayer-funded protection.
Sources say the committee, known as Ravec, includes police, royal, and government officials. The group is currently reviewing Harry’s request for armed security during any UK stay.
Harry has repeatedly said he does not feel it is safe to bring his family to Britain without proper protection. That position raises questions about whether Meghan’s rumored summer visit will go ahead. Insiders say the couple expects to learn this month whether security arrangements will be approved for Birmingham.
It is also unclear if their children would travel with them. Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, have not been confirmed for the potential trip.
The timing comes amid renewed caution around Harry’s relationship with the royal family. One source said, “The problem with Harry is that he is still just not trusted.”
Another insider added, “Aides have warned King Charles to avoid taking phone calls with Harry in case he records them. They worry is that he could use every word for another book or TV interview.”
For now, Meghan’s possible return depends entirely on security approval and unresolved tensions.
