Sonja Morgan is switching sides! The Bravo alum has moved to a new network to star in an upcoming E! reality series alongside her former RHONY castmates. The Golden Life, which starts filming this spring, follows Sonja, Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, and Kelly Bensimon as they navigate life, romance, and drama in Palm Springs, Florida.
Sonja may have turned in her apple for a Florida orange, but fans will never forget her time on Real Housewives of New York. Reality Tea recently had the chance to chat with Sonja about the future of RHONY and the new cast. She offered some sage advice to the newbies, drawing on her wealth of experience.
Sonja Morgan urges new cast of RHONY to “be authentic”
It’s hard to ignore the affinity fans feel for the RHONY OGs. The new cast had massive shoes to fill, and many viewers weren’t ready to move on from the ladies who started it all. We asked Sonja if she has any advice for the women who will be featured in Season 16. She urged the women to be authentic on camera, even if it’s unflattering.
“I’m tired of giving advice to people who don’t listen,” she joked. “I told all the new RHONY girls to be yourself, to be authentic. If it means showing up with one strip of lashes on and half your hair hanging out, or talking about, you know, heavy menstrual flow, or how to keep your vagina young. I don’t care. People want to know.”
“If you’re not going to share real wisdom … you’re already starting in a position of people not trusting your opinion,” she continued. “When [fans] come to my Sonja In Your City tour, they aren’t asking about the storylines. They’re asking about … how do you fall in love, how do you get married, how do you get divorced, how do you raise a child in this environment today.”
Hopefully, the RHONY reboot’s upcoming soft reboot will take some tips from Sonja.
Real Housewives of New York is available to stream on Peacock.
