So far, the hit series The Traitors has more than 20 international versions. That proves how much viewers crave the cloak-and-dagger drama of this series. Naturally, Season 4 of The Traitors US kept the surprises coming.

The premise of the series is diabolical in its simplicity. The host secretly selects several players to be Traitors. While viewers at home know the identity of the Traitors, the rest of the cast members, dubbed Faithfuls, do not. While they work together in challenges to earn money for the prize pot, the Traitors also murder a Faithful each night. Meanwhile, at each round table, the Faithfuls try to oust a Traitor. If one Traitor remains at the end of the game, they claim the entire prize.

While The Traitors US currently features reality TV stars and some other notable faces, other countries feature normal folks. Still, the twists keep coming in this high-stakes game of cat and mouse. Let’s take a look at the craziest Traitors’ twists from around the world.

The Secret Traitor on The Traitors US and The Traitors UK

During Season 4 of The Traitors UK, host Claudia Winkleman introduced a devilish twist. After she selected three Traitors at the round table, she later visited the turret and told the trio that they were not alone. The Secret Traitor, who donned a red cloak, was a secret to viewers and the other Traitors.

Plus, this Traitor would create a shortlist of players to be murdered. Traitors Hugo Lodge, Stephen Libby, and Rachel Duffy were stunned. “You still have power, but not quite as much,” Claudia told them. It turns out that Fiona Hughes was the Secret Traitor, and she joined Stephen and Rachel in the turret once Hugo was banished in Episode 3.

Meanwhile, the Secret Traitor twist also made its debut in the Season 4 US version. This time, host Alan Cumming opened a small wooden box while privately facing each player. If the box held a card with a cloaked figure, then that contestant was the Secret Traitor. Once again, their identity was a secret to the other Traitors and viewers.

The trio of Traitors in the turret, former Real Housewives stars Lisa Rinna and Candiace Dillard Bassett, along with Love Island USA alum Rob Rausch, never had the chance to meet the Secret Traitor. Sweet, murderous Donna Kelce, affectionately dubbed “Mama Kelce,” was banished during Episode 3.

This ended the Secret Traitor twist rather swiftly (pun intended). As you no doubt know, Taylor Swift is engaged to Donna’s son, Travis Kelce. It’s a shame that Donna couldn’t stay in her red cloak a bit longer.

The Seer twist seen around the globe

The Seer twist has been featured in many global franchises, including Norway, Poland, Finland, France, Russia, the UK, and the US. This advantage allows the player who has it, the Seer, to ascertain whether another player is a Faithful or a Traitor.

During Season 3 of The Traitors UK, Faithful Francesca Rowan-Plowden earned the most money in a challenge, giving her the power of the Seer. She invited Charlotte Berman, who was the final Traitor standing, to a private dinner. An emotional Francesca, also known as Frankie, was trembling as she opened the envelope, revealing that Charlotte was a Traitor.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was as cool as a cucumber. “But you realize, this doesn’t leave this room? As in, I’m not a Traitor on the outside of this wall,” Charlotte said merrily. “The game continues.” However, when Francesca asked if Charlotte would say that she was the Traitor, Charlotte replied, “This is a secret meeting with no evidence.” Yikes!

However, during Season 3 of The Traitors US, a Traitor was the Seer. Big Brother alum Britney Haynes invited Faithful Gabby Windey to the private dinner. It was a bit of a snooze as Britney already knew that the former Bachelorette was a Faithful. However, at breakfast the next morning, Britney didn’t accuse Gabby of being a Traitor. Instead, she tried to buddy up to the Faithful. As the final Traitor standing, Britney needed Gabby.

The Traitors Australia: The Traitor’s Dilemma

Season 2 of The Traitors Australia marked the first time that three Traitors made it to the end. Sam McGlone and Blake Willoughby were “OG” Traitors who later recruited Camille Chicheportich. Sam played the game aggressively, and his ego was on steroids. He told both Blake and Camille that they should all write “share” and split the prize.

Host Rodger Corser explained the rules of the Traitor’s dilemma. If all three Traitors wrote “share,” they would split the prize equally. If only one player wrote “steal,” then they would get the entire prize. If two Traitors wrote “steal,” then they would split the cash. However, if all three wrote “steal,” then they would get nothing. Zero. A hearty salute as they left empty-handed.

While Sam had pledged to write “share,” his devious heart wouldn’t let him. He wrote “steal.” Of course, Blake knew that Sam wanted all the cash, so he also wrote “steal.”

Then, it was time for Camille’s jaw-dropping reveal. “I knew you wanted me because I was a sharer. But if I wasn’t going to win … then none of us were going to win,” Camille stated, showing that she also wrote “steal.”

Sam laughed, “I can’t believe that just happened,” while Blake wept. Hilariously, Sam attacked Camille, saying that she should have allowed him and Blake to split the pot because they did all the work. Well, I guess that Camille proved that she truly did belong in the turret!

The Traitors is streaming on Peacock.
